Activity – World Antimicrobial Resistance Week (WAAW)

Responding to WHO global campaign (Antibiotics: Handle With Care); Faculty of Oral & Dental Medicine – MIU organized  sessions to address the urgent problem of antibiotic resistance and what everyone can do to participate in facing this problem.

The sessions were arranged by the Environmental Awareness and Community Service Committee in collaboration with Infection Prevention and Control Department (IPC). The aim of the sessions was to spread knowledge and raise awareness among patients attending the MIU dental clinic complex as well as among health-care providers and non-health-care employees.

The campaign was held on the 22nd of November, 2015 and included two sessions: The first targeted the patients attending MIU dental clinic complex, while the second session included MIU employees.

The sessions were moderated and presented by Interns and included PowerPoint presentations and interaction with attendees. The number of attendees was 100 persons. Educational materials were distributed among the attendees. Assessing the knowledge before the sessions and determining the success of the sessions were done using questionnaires.
