Intern and Alumni Research Committee
The Interns Research Committee within the research unit has a specialized role in supporting and guiding interns and alumni, who are often in the beginning of their research careers and might be balancing both clinical responsibilities and research tasks
The committee focuses on integrating interns into the research environment, providing them with the necessary tools and mentorship to succeed in their research endeavors, and ensuring that their research experience contributes to both their professional development and the goals of the research unit.
- Develop and implement an orientation program to introduce interns to the research unit’s objectives, key personnel, ongoing projects, and available resources.
- Facilitate connections between interns and faculty members or researchers working on relevant projects.
- Pair each intern or group of interns &/or alumni with a mentor who can provide guidance on research methodologies, project management, and career development.
- Assist interns &/or in selecting and designing research projects that align with their interests and the unit’s priorities.
- Provide continuous support throughout the research process, including advice on literature review, hypothesis development, data collection, and analysis.
- Provide interns with training on ethical standards in research, including informed consent, data confidentiality, and responsible conduct of research.
- Organize training sessions on research fundamentals, such as study design, statistical analysis, and scientific writing.
- Monitor the progress of interns’ &/or alumni research projects through providing regular feedback and assistance in overcoming any challenges or obstacles that arise during the research process.
- Guidance through the process of obtaining necessary approvals from ethics committees and other regulatory bodies.
