The program covers modern analytical techniques related to chromatography, electrophoresis, and mass spectrometry. It provides examples of how these techniques can be applied in analysis of drugs and biologically active compounds. The program also discusses automated monitoring and process analysis in a variety of industrial, clinical and environmental applications, employing eco-friendly and sustainable procedures. |
The program introduces advanced techniques in the field of design and synthesis of novel pharmaceutical organic compounds of potential biological activities. It also covers the use of Computer-Aided Drug Design Software for drug discovery and optimization of new pharmaceutical compounds. |
Overview
The Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences offers highly competitive research based graduate programs that prepare students for a career in related fields through the development of a firm foundation in fundamental sciences.
Admission Requirements:
The applicant must
- Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited Egyptian University or an equivalent degree accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities, with a minimum grade “Good” or a minimum GPA (2.5) from universities that apply the credit hour system.
- Applicants who hold a two-year diploma in any of the specializations of Pharmacy with a minimum grade “Good” may be admitted to the Program upon the recommendation of the Department.
- Applicants must pass an oral interview.
- Applicants must submit a valid TOEFL ITP (administered by Amideast) with a minimum score of 550 or ILETS 6. If one does not have a TOEFL/ ILETS, one can sit for the English Placement Exam at MIU.
Application Process
- All applicants are required to apply online via the MIU website.
- Applicants are required to bring a hard copy of all the required original documents after final acceptance and before payment.
Program Structure
Students are required to successfully complete 36 credit hours distributed as follows:
1. Three Faculty Requirement Courses (Compulsory) | 6 credit hours |
2. Five Specialization Requirement Courses (Compulsory) | 10 credit hours |
3. Two Elective Courses | 4 credit hours |
4. Thesis | 16 credit hours |
Program Duration & Regulations
- Program duration is, at least, two calendar years (24 months) or four semesters.
- Program duration should not exceed five years for both the course work and the thesis.
- Maximum load for each semester is 10 credit hours.
- Classes run on weekdays including Saturday.
Language of Instruction
English is the language of instruction and the thesis must be submitted in English.
