Grading System
Grades
A grade is the letter system by which students are evaluated through quizzes, exams, papers, attendance, participation in class, etc. The grade point average (GPA) is a number ranging from 0.00-4.00, which is a summary of students’ academic performance throughout the years.
The GPA includes the following
- Semester GPA
It is the GPA of one semester only.
Cumulative GPA
It is the GPA of the courses taken throughout the years attended by the student at MIU (students must achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 to be able to graduate).
Major GPA
It is the GPA of the courses completed for the major (students must achieve a minimum Major GPA of 2.00 to be able to graduate).
The grade point average (GPA) is calculated by multiplying the grade value by the number of credit hours the course represents; the result is the column listed as Total Quality Point. The total quality point is then divided by the total credit hours, excluding the credit hours for WS/WU.
