The Faculty of Pharmacy at MIU is proud to announce that its students have won 4th place for the best innovative pharmacy poster at the 28th Dubai International Pharmaceutical and Technologies (DUPHAT) Conference held from 10th to 12th January 2023 in Dubai, UAE.
Eight pharmacy students under the supervision of faculty members from different departments participated in the event, presenting four research posters. The conference provided an opportunity for students to showcase their research skills, attend workshops on pharmacy skills development, and explore the latest pharmaceutical technologies and exhibitions. Their work was evaluated by elite professors in the pharmaceutical field and eminent conference exhibitors from different pharmaceutical backgrounds.
The winning poster, titled “Long non-coding mRNA use and response to chemotherapeutic agents in Egyptian breast cancer population,” was presented by the Clinical Pharmacy Department. The students collaborated with governmental and private oncological Egyptian hospitals to determine the use of genetic testing for diagnosis, prognosis, and chemotherapy resistance identification in different MIU experiential training programs. The poster was supervised by Dr. Shaimaa Fathy and Dr. Norhan Abdelhafeez.

Prof. Paurav Shukla visited the Faculty of Business Administration and International Trade, MIU, for the period from November 26th till November 30th, 2022. During his visit, Prof. Shukla gave lectures in two marketing-major classes: Special Topics in Marketing and Strategic Brand Management. His wide range of industry and academic expertise were a big addition to the students’ learning experience and an enhancement of their career prospects.
Prof. Shukla held meetings with faculty members to discuss mutual potential future research. Paurav Shukla is a Professor of Marketing and Head of Research for the Digital and Data Driven Marketing Department at the Southampton Business School, University of Southampton, UK.
His research interests include cross-cultural consumer behavior, luxury marketing and branding, health policy and international marketing with a particular focus on emerging markets.
He is also one of the most cited academic scholars in the past 5 years in the field of luxury branding.

Prof. Dr. Sharon See gave online lectures to 4th year MIU Pharmacy students between 6/12/2020 and 13/12/2020. The lectures were on infectious diseases and their therapeutics, osteomyelitis, meningitis and the role of the clinical pharmacist in their management. Special emphasis was given to the new updates in the antibiotic treatment and the role of the clinical pharmacist in providing Antibiotic Stewardship. The lectures were extremely beneficial for the students.

Prof. Dr. Ebtesam Ahmed gave hybrid lectures to 5th year MIU Pharmacy students between November 10th and November 17th, 2020. The lectures were on Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Peptic Ulcer Disease and Inflammatory Bowel Disease and their pharmacotherapeutic approaches. Dr. Ebtesam also conducted online case discussions with the faculty members and TAs of the Clinical Pharmacy Department.
The lectures were extremely beneficial for the students and the Clinical Department staff.

Professor Frank J. Franzak is visiting the Faculty of Business Administration and International Trade from February 21st to March 5th, 2015. Professor Franzak is associate professor at the Department of Marketing, School of Business, Virginia Commonwealth University, (VCU). He served as the Chair of the Marketing Department at VCU from 2002 till 2008. Prior to that, he was the Faculty Advisor to VCU’s Fast Track Executive MBA program. Before joining VCU, Prof. Franzak taught marketing courses at Boston College and the University of Maryland.
Prof. Franzak teaches a variety of marketing courses, at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, including marketing management, international market planning, advertising, and marketing research. In addition he has a valuable list of publications in many referenced journals and conference proceedings.
During his visit to MIU, Prof. Franzak will be teaching two marketing-major courses: Marketing Research and Consumer Behaviour.

Prof. Ebtesam Ahmed, Pharm D, visited the Faculty of Pharmacy, MIU, from September 16th till September 26th , 2018. During her visit, Dr Ebtesam gave lectures to fifth year pharmacy students on the common bone diseases and their pharmacotherapeutic approaches. She also conducted a workshop on patient controlled analgesia with the Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice Staff.

For the first time, the MCM Department will be hosting Professor Chang Wan “Isaac” Woo, Assistant Professor of Public Relations in the School of Communication Studies, James Madison University. Professor Woo’s two-week visit, 14-25 February 2015, is intended to introduce the public relations students at MIU to the modern trends in public relations campaigns, new media PR and image restoration strategies.
Between September 29th and October 4th 2018, Prof. Phani Tej Adidam visited the Faculty of Business Administration and International Trade at the MIU. Professor Adidam is Executive Education Professor and the Chairman of the Marketing and Entrepreneurship, College of Business Administration, University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), USA. He also serves as the Director of the Center for International Business Initiatives. His research focuses on marketing strategy, decision confidence, competitive intelligence, customer relationship management and sales management. Prof. Adidam’s work is published in the top marketing publications such as Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Management, and Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice.
During his visit, Prof. Adidam gave lectures in three marketing-major classes: Marketing Research, Marketing strategy and Customer Relationship Management. He enriched the classes with his wide range of professional and academic expertise. Students gained much benefit from such prolific researcher and excellent instructor.

Misr International University always seeks out suitable ways to get its students updated with all the new aspects of all fields. Thus, MIU’s Faculty of Pharmacy was delighted to have Dr Ebtesam Ahmad, Pharm.D, M.S, Clinical Associate Professor, St. John’s University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, MJHS Institute for Innovation in Palliative Care, as a visiting professor from April 3rd to the 14th , 2016 .
During her visit, Dr. Ebtesam taught senior students about various oncologic diseases, with special emphasis on the role of the clinical pharmacist in providing supportive care in oncology. Dr. Ebtesam also presented a session in the 10th Continuing Education workshop of the Faculty of Pharmacy, that was held on the 9th of April titled; “Integrating Targets in Oncology; A Perspective on Palliative, Supportive Care and Beyond”.
A second workshop was held in the Drug Information Center with the title: “Optimizing cancer pain management: stepping up to the challenge” and was directed to the oncology clinical pharmacists at the National Cancer Institute, Nasser Institute and faculty members from the Faculty of Pharmacy, from Cairo and Ain Shams Universities.
