Pharmacy Preceptorship Day and MOU Signing Ceremony with Nassaem Hospital

In recognition of the great contribution of the Nassaem Hospital preceptors in training MIU pharmacy students, the Office of Pharmacy Experiential Training (OPET), Faculty of Pharmacy, MIU, held a Preceptorship Day and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony with Nassaem Hospital on Wednesday, November16th 2022.

The MOU was signed by Prof. Dr. Samy Emara, Vice Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, MIU and Dr. Mostafa Shokry, CEO of Nassaem Hospital. The aim of the MOU is to strengthen the academic relationship between the two parties, enrich research collaboration, and exchange knowledge and experiences.

The signing ceremony was attended by the MIU Faculty of Pharmacy Dean, Vice Deans, Department Heads, members of the OPET and members of the Quality Assurance Unit.

The representatives of Nassaem Hospital and preceptors attending the ceremony were Dr. Mohamed Gamal, Pharmacies and Drug Supply Chain Manager, Dr. Emam Mahmoud, Inpatient and Clinical Pharmacy Supervisor and Dr. Nada Adel, Senior Clinical Pharmacist.

At the end of the ceremony, awards & certificates of appreciation were granted to Nassaem Hospital administrators and preceptors.

MIU’s pharmacy program is now Internationally-Accredited

We are proud to announce that in January 2023  “The Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree of Misr International University, Faculty of Pharmacy, has been granted International-Accreditation ( online evaluation) by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), 190 South LaSalle Street, Suite 3000,Chicago, Illinois 60603-3446, United States of America; TEL: +1 (312) 664-3575; FAX:+1 (866) 228-2631; web site https://www.acpe-accredit.org/international-services-program/.

This recognition is a testament to the commitment of the Faculty of Pharmacy to continuous quality improvement and its accountability to the community and society. Previously, we received national accreditation from the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE) in 2017 and reaffirmed the accreditation in 2022, and today we are among the first cohort of pharmacy faculties in Egypt to receive international-accreditation after meeting the quality criteria set forth by the ACPE. Acceptance is provisional since the visit was conducted online due to travel restrictions. However, we anticipate an onsite visit within the next few months.

The faculty leadership, staff, and students are proud of this achievement, which demonstrates their adherence to international best practices in pharmacy education. The faculty will continue its pursuit of quality by regularly reviewing and refining its curriculum content, delivery, and assessment methods to advance pharmacy education and practice and improve healthcare for all.

Annual Seniors Scientific Conference

The Faculty of Pharmacy, Misr International University, hosted the Annual Seniors Scientific Conference, “Navigating to the Future,” on August 7th at the Tolip Garden Plaza Hilton Hotel. The Conference was held in collaboration with Parkville Pharmaceutical Company.

Students presented their research findings through oral presentations and scientific posters under the supervision of faculty members. The conference research papers covered important topics in a variety of scientific research disciplines, including cardiology, nutrition, neuropharmacology, cancer treatment, microbiology, and nanotechnology.

All the presented research projects were evaluated by a panel of distinguished academics from the Faculty of Pharmacy at various Egyptian universities.

Furthermore, distinguished speakers gave speeches regarding the various pharmacy career paths that await future graduates.  Dr. Heba Anees El-shesheni, head of Inpatient Clinical Nutrition Services at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), gave a talk entitled “Clinical Nutrition: A Multispecialty Career “. 

Dr. Samar Mowafy, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Misr International University, also gave a talk entitled “Studying Abroad: Tips for Getting a Scholarship “.  

Eva Pharmacovigilance Training Day

As part of the MIU annual Med Safety awareness campaign about patient safety and in collaboration with the International Society of Pharmacovigilance—Egypt (ISOP), the Office of Pharmacy Experiential Training (OPET) along with Eva Limitless organised a full pharmacovigilance training day in the Pharmacovigilance Centre.

The aim of the day was to provide students with distinguished training experiences in various pharmaceutical fields to become pharmacists capable of taking responsibility and accountability for drug therapy management.

Twenty senior Pharmacy students had the opportunity to learn about the drug reporting system and the pharmacovigilance aspects that ensure the safe, economical, and rational use of pharmaceuticals.

MOVE- Mental Health Awareness Session at Thebes Integrated International School

Mental health problems especially among children and teenagers have tremendously increased in the last few years. Their negative impact is underestimated by many.  It is therefore extremely important to raise mental health awareness in schools.

To that end, Pharmacy students who are members of the MOVE club conducted an awareness session to middle school students at Thebes Integrated International School on Monday, October 24, 2022. Students who attended were from the school three branches: National School (ITIS), British School (CBS), and American School (ITACC). Through interactive presentations, videos, role-playing and a Q&A panel, the session focus was on depression, anxiety disorders, and panic attacks.

Pharmacy students’ in the Climate League Competition

We are pleased to announce that two of our Faculty of Pharmacy students, Rawan Mahoumed and Mohamed Ashraf, have reached the final stage of the Climate Leaders Competition organized by the Youth Leaders Foundation (YLF), whose aim is to achieve a green future for all future generations, in collaboration with the National Council for Women and WE Telecom.

Rawan and Mohamed qualified for the final stage 50 final competitors. Rawan came in second place in the Ideas and Prototypes category and received a LE 15,000 prize. Her project was chosen as one of the top 50 project ideas in the second edition of the “Abu Hashima Startup Power Competition”.

DIMAS club Orphan Trip

Pharmacy students who are members of the Dimas Student Club participated in organizing a trip to the International Park in Nasr City for 20 children, accompanied by their parents, from inclusive schools (cerebral palsy patients) at the Noor Al-Hayat Oasis Association in Hadayek Al-Kobba. The trip was on Saturday, November 19, 2022.

The university provided a bus for transportation to and from the headquarters of the association. During the day, Pharmacy students shared a number of joyous activities with the children, including one that aimed at raising their awareness about how respiratory infections are transmitted.

شارك طلاب كلية الصيدلة الأعضاء في النادي الطلابي دايماس بتنظيم رحلة لعدد 20 طفلًا وطفلة من مدارس الدمج (مرضى الشلل الدماغي) بجمعية واحة نور الحياة بحدائق القبة لزيارة الحديقة الدولية بمدينة نصر برفقة أولياء أمورهم وذلك يوم السبت الموافق 19 نوفمبر2022. قامت الجامعة بتوفير حافلة للانتقال إلى مقر الجمعية والعودة منه ورافق الأطفال مجموعة من طلاب النادي الطلابي دايماس. قام الطلاب بتقديم توعية صحية عن كيفية انتقال العدوى التنفسية.

In recognition of the great contribution of the Teachers Hospital preceptors in training MIU pharmacy students, the Office of Pharmacy Experiential Training (OPET), Faculty of Pharmacy, MIU, held a Preceptorship Day and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony with Teachers Hospital on Wednesday, November16th 2022.

The MOU was signed by Prof. Dr. Samy Emara, Vice Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, MIU and Dr. Bahaa El Din Abo Zaid, General Manager of Teachers Hospital. The aim of the MOU is to strengthen the academic relationship between the two parties, enrich research collaboration, and exchange knowledge and experiences.

The signing ceremony was attended by the MIU Faculty of Pharmacy Dean, Vice Deans, Department Heads, members of the OPET and members of the Quality Assurance Unit.

The representatives of Teachers Hospital and preceptors attending the ceremony were Dr. Ahmed Essam Abou Warda, Head of Clinical Pharmacy Department and Dr.Inas Ahmed Al Shamy, Hospital Pharmacy Manager.

At the end of the ceremony, awards & certificates of appreciation were granted to Teachers Hospital administrators and preceptors.

Pharmacy Preceptorship Day and MOU Signing Ceremony with As-Salam International Hospitals

The Office of Pharmacy Experiential Training (OPET), Faculty of Pharmacy, MIU, held a Preceptorship Day and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony with As-Salam International Hospitals. This is in recognition for the great contribution of the preceptors in training MIU pharmacy students. The event was held on Monday November 14th, 2022

As-Salam International Hospitals are JCI-accredited facilities that are part of Alameda Healthcare Group which is a network with various healthcare subsidiaries all over Egypt.

The MOU was signed by Prof. Dr. Ahmad Emad El-Gendy, MIU Vice President for Education & Student Affairs and Dr. Mazen Attia, CMO of As-Salam International Hospitals. This MOU is aiming to strengthen the academic relationship between the two parties, enrich research collaboration, and exchange knowledge and experiences.

The signing ceremony was attended by the MIU Faculty of Pharmacy Dean, Vice- Deans, Department Heads, Members of the OPET and Members of the Quality Assurance Unit.

The representatives of As-Salam International Hospitals and preceptors were Dr. Ahmed El Nady, Chief Pharmacy Director; Dr. Hagar Elgendy, Senior Inpatient Pharmacist and Dr. Hadeer Adel, Inpatient Pharmacist.

At the end of the ceremony, awards & certificates of appreciation were granted to   As-Salam International Hospitals administrators and preceptors in recognition of the great efforts in providing distinguished clinical pharmacy training to our students.

Pharmacy Preceptorship Day and MOU Signing Ceremony with Cleopatra Hospitals Group

The Office of Pharmacy Experiential Training (OPET), Faculty of Pharmacy, MIU, held a Preceptorship Day and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony with Cleopatra Hospitals Group (CHG). This is in recognition for the great contribution of the preceptors in training MIU pharmacy students. The event was held on Monday November 7th, 2022

CHG is considered as one of the largest private hospital groups in Egypt that has played an important role in developing the healthcare sector. It manages several hospitals in Egypt including Cleopatra Hospital, Cairo Specialized Hospital, Nile Badrawi Hospital, and Al Shorouk Hospital.

The MOU was signed by Prof. Dr. Ahmad Emad El-Gendy, MIU Vice- President for Education & Student Affairs and Dr. Kareem Awaad, CHG Pharmaceutical Services Director. This MOU is aiming to strengthen the academic relationship between the two parties, enrich research collaboration, and exchange knowledge and experiences.

The ceremony was attended by the MIU Faculty of Pharmacy Dean, Vice-Deans, Department Heads, Members of the OPET and Members of the Quality Assurance Unit. Dr. Watheq Alsetohy, Senior Specialist Clinical Pharmacy Medication Management & Use, and Dr. Mohamed Rafaat, Pharmaceutical Services Manager, Nile Badrawi Hospital were the CHG representative preceptors.  

At the end of the ceremony, awards & certificates of appreciation were granted to CHG administrators and preceptors. in recognition of the great efforts in providing distinguished clinical pharmacy training to our students.
