On Monday November 25, 2024, the Career Counseling Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy hosted a session titled “Intraprofessional and Interprofessional Sensitivity: A Winning Combination for Collaborative Care” conducted by Dr. Naser Alsharif, Dean of the School of Pharmacy at the Lebanese American University.

Dr. Naser addressed key aspects of teamwork among pharmacists and highlighted the communication challenges faced by interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses and pharmacists. He emphasized how fostering mutual understanding and respect is essential for improving patient care.

The session generated rich discussions and offered students valuable insights into effective collaboration in healthcare.

On the 9th of March 2024, the Faculty of Pharmacy hosted its second annual Career Counseling Day. This event was part of the ongoing ‘Beyond the Counter’ series, aiming to provide students with a deeper understanding of the diverse career pathways available in pharmacy.
The day featured a series of engaging sessions that explored various aspects of career preparation such as CV writing, LinkedIn profiling, and career guidance. Students also gained insights into the cosmeceuticals field, nutrition plan pathways, and real-world experiences shared by industry professionals.
Esteemed speakers from prominent pharmaceutical companies such as Evapharma, Parkville, and MUP shared their personal journeys, highlighting the challenges they faced, the unexpected opportunities they seized, and the dedication required to succeed in the pharmaceutical industry.
Additionally, MIU alumni who have excelled at various industrial companies, including Migentra, AstraZeneca, Siemens, Servier, and MARC, shared their experiences and insights. They discussed the impact of their university education on their career paths, underscoring the importance of the curriculum they studied.
Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to enhance their interview skills through mock interviews conducted by the Pharmaoverseas HR team. They also received valuable feedback on their resumes and LinkedIn profiles from the Youth Leader Foundation team.
The Faculty of Pharmacy’s Career Counseling Day is a testament to the university’s dedication to guiding students toward fulfilling careers in the pharmaceutical industry.
The next event of the ‘Beyond the Counter’ series will continue to explore additional career options in the pharmacy profession, further enriching students’ understanding of the diverse opportunities available to them.

 شهد اليوم سلسلة من الجلسات التي تناولت جوانب مختلفة من الإعداد المهني بما في ذلك كتابة السيرة الذاتية وإنشاء ملف تعريف على لينكد إن والإرشاد المهني. تعرف الطلاب أيضًا على مجالات مستحضرات التجميل والعمل في مجال خطط التغذية وتجارب العالم الحقيقي التي شاركها محترفو الصناعة.

 شارك المتحدثون من شركات صيدلانية بارزة مثل إيفا فارما وبارك فيل و MUP رحلاتهم الشخصية مسلطين الضوء على التحديات التي واجهوها والفرص غير المتوقعة التي استغلوها والتفاني المطلوب للنجاح في صناعة الصيدلة.

 بالإضافة إلى ذلك شارك خريجو جامعة مصر الدولية الذين يعملون في شركات صناعية مختلفة مثل Migentra
و AstraZeneca و Siemensو Servierو MARC تجاربهم وآراؤهم وناقشوا تأثير تعليمهم الجامعي على مساراتهم المهنية مؤكدين على أهمية المنهج الدراسي.

 حظى الطلاب بفرصة لتحسين مهاراتهم في محاكاة المقابلات التي أجرتها فرق الموارد البشرية في فارما أوفرسيز. كما تمت مراجعة سيرهم الذاتية وملفاتهم الشخصية على LinkedIn من فريق مؤسسة قادة الشباب.

 يعد يوم الإرشاد المهني في كلية الصيدلة شاهدًا على التفاني في توجيه الطلاب نحو مهن مجدية في صناعة الصيدلة.

On Monday, the 20th of November, the Career Counseling Committee organized a session tailored to pharmacy students titled “Unlocking Your Future, Exploring Pharmacy Careers: Your Path to Success,” given by Dr. Mary Faisal.

Dr. Mary Faisal is a seasoned pharmacist with 15 years of expertise in multinational pharmaceutical companies. She holds a diploma in pharmaceutical marketing research from the University of Georgia and an international certificate in Human Resources Management from the University of Cambridge.

During the session, Dr. Faisal delved into the myriad opportunities within the pharmaceutical field. She elucidated various career paths and roles for pharmacists in pharmacies, pharmaceutical or insurance companies, as well as research and academic institutions.

 نظمت لجنة الإرشاد المهني جلسة مصممة خصيصًا لطلاب الصيدلة بعنوان “تعرف على الأدوار المختلفة للصيادلة في مجال قطاع الأدوية: طريقك إلى النجاح” قدمتها د. ماري فيصل يوم الاثنين الموافق20 نوفمبر.

 د. ماري فيصل تتمتع بخبرة 15 عامًا في مجال العمل بشركات الأدوية متعددة الجنسية وحاصلة على دبلوم في أبحاث التسويق الصيدلاني من جامعة جورجيا وشهادة دولية في إدارة الموارد البشرية من جامعة كامبريدج.

 أثناء الجلسة تطرقت د. ماري إلى الفرص العديدة في مجال قطاع الأدوية وأوضحت المسارات الوظيفية والأدوار المختلفة للصيادلة في الصيدليات وشركات الأدوية وشركات التأمين وكذلك في المؤسسات البحثية والأكاديمية.

In pursuit of its unwavering commitment to the professional development of future graduates, the Faculty of Pharmacy at MIU organized a dynamic Career Counseling Day on November 25, 2023. This event featured a series of enlightening sessions covering various aspects of career preparation, including CV writing, LinkedIn profiling, career guidance, and an exploration of medical insurance.

The day comprised an array of motivational and insightful seminars delivered by experts from distinguished pharmaceutical companies, including Accsight, EvaPharma, Limitless Care, Pharma Overseas, and Wisely Insure. These seasoned professionals shared firsthand experiences, providing valuable insights into on-the-ground stories, challenges, opportunities, and the importance of perseverance.

Highlighting the significance of alumni contributions, MIU graduates who had navigated the same academic path shared their post-graduation journeys. Their narratives offered valuable insights into trials, errors, acquired skills, and the enduring impact of the university on their career trajectories.

Additionally, the event provided students with an opportunity to assess their interview skills, strengths, and weaknesses. Through mock interviews conducted by the HR team from PharmaOverseas, students gained practical experience and a realistic glimpse into the professional world.

نظمت لجنة التوجيه المهني جلسة بعنوان “اكتشف نفسك …..ثم مسيرتك المهنية” وذلك يوم الأثنين 20 نوفمبر 2023.

قامت الدكتورة نهى حلمي، مدير الموارد البشرية بشركة النقابة الطبية للأدوية، بتيسير هذه الجلسة، مؤكدة على أهمية التحقق من القدرات والموارد الشخصية للفرد حتى يتمكن من اختيار المهنة الأكثر ملاءمة.

وقد أعجب الحضور بالأفكار التي تم طرحها خلال الندوة، التي حضرها عميد الكلية والوكلاء وعدد من أعضاء هيئة التدريس وحوالي 80 طالبًا من طلاب الفرقة الرابعة والخامسة الذين شاركوا بنشاط في النقاش.

وتضمنت الجلسة أيضًا نصائح قيمة حول التحضير للمقابلات الشخصية، وأتيحت الفرصة للمشاركين لطرح الأسئلة، التي أجابت عليها الدكتورة نهى إجابات شاملة.

وتعد مثل هذه الفعاليات جسرًا هامًا بين الدراسة الجامعية وسوق العمل، مما يتيح للطلاب فرصة نادرة لاكتساب رؤى مباشرة من الخبراء المتمرسين في المجال.

The Career Counseling Committee organized a session entitled “Explore Yourself …..Then Your Career” on Monday, November 20, 2023.

Dr. Noha Helmy, the Human Resources Director at Medical Union Pharmaceuticals (MUP), facilitated this session, emphasizing the significance of investigating one’s personal capabilities and resources to be able to select the most suitable career.

Her insights resonated with the audience, comprising Faculty Dean, Vice-Deans, various staff members, and around 80 fourth and fifth-year students who actively participated in the session.

The session also included valuable advice on interview preparation. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions, and Dr. Noha provided thorough answers.

The event served as a bridge between academia and industry, offering students a rare opportunity to gain insights directly from a seasoned professional.

The Career Counseling Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy hosted a session for senior pharmacy students, titled “Pharmacy Literacy: Essential for Career Planning” on March 8th, 2023.  The event aimed to prepare future pharmacists to become competent pharmaceutical care providers. The session was given by Professor Naser Z. Alsharif, Pharm.D., M.S., Ph.D. Dean and Professor, School of Pharmacy, Lebanese American University and Former Professor of Pharmacy Sciences Creighton University, School of Pharmacy & Health Professions.

The Career Counseling Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy hosted a session for junior and senior pharmacy students, as well as recent graduates, titled “My Degree, My Career, and My Next Move” on February 21, 2023.  The event aimed to prepare future pharmacists to become competent pharmaceutical care providers.

The guest of honor at the event was Professor Sherief Khalifa, Vice Chancellor for Quality and Institutional Effectiveness, Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University, and Chair of the ACPE International Commission. Prof. Khalifa stressed the importance of motivation and mentorship in career development, as well as continuing education.

The session emphasized the significance of understanding an individual’s self-passion, skills, and strengths in identifying opportunities that would be the best career decision. Additionally, the session acquainted students with how to value the quality of their degree in light of the recently granted provisional International-Accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

The MIU Faculty of Pharmacy Career Counseling Committee hosted a session for senior students and alumni on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, titled “How Artificial Intelligence is Improving Predictive Analysis in Healthcare.” Dr. Mohamed Faisal, Principal Manager of Consultile Agency, a Consulting and Digital Marketing firm with experts in healthcare and pharmaceutical industry, moderated the session.

The session discussed how artificial intelligence (AI) uses large amounts of data to identify or explain patterns. This has the potential to change how we discover new drugs, deliver care, and solve other medical challenges, transforming healthcare around the world.

At the end of the session, Dr. Samy Emara, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and faculty staff members met with Dr. Faisal to discuss future collaboration between MIU and Consultile in training MIU pharmacy students in the fields of digital health, digital marketing, and consultations.
