Design 2A Jury day

On Monday, December 18th, the Architecture Department had the privilege of hosting distinguished jurors Prof. Sherif El Attar, Prof. Ahmed Mostafa, and Prof. Mohamed Reda for the evaluation of the Design course projects presented by second-year architecture students. The focus of the Design 2A course was the creation of a residential villa.

The projects were supervised by Dr. Mostafa El Attal and Dr. Samar El Naggar, who guided the students towards incorporating futuristic and environmentally conscious approaches in their designs.

On the same day, the second-year students presented their final physical models and VR visualizations for the Modelling course jury. The projects were under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Samir El Sawy.

Evaluation of the Design course projects presented by third-year architecture students

On Saturday December 16th, the Architecture Department was honored to welcome Associate Prof. Aliaa Al Sadatti and Dr. Ahmed El Husseini for the evaluation of the Design course projects presented by third-year architecture students.

The focus of the Design 3A course for Fall 2023 was the creation of a design for a theater and a cultural park. The projects were supervised by Dr. Mougibelrahman Amer whose guidance helped students select a play to be performed on the jury day.

استضاف قسم الهندسة المعمارية يوم السبت الموافق 16 ديسمبر الدكتورة علياء الساداتي والدكتور أحمد الحسيني من جامعة القاهرة لتحكيم مشروعات طلاب السنة الثالثة في مقرر التصميم المعماري، والتي كانت عبارة عن تصميم حديقة ومنتزه ثقافي. تولى تدريس المقرر والإشراف على المشروعات الدكتور مجيب الرحمن عامر الذي وجه الطلاب نحو اختيار مسرحية يتم عرضها في يوم لجنة التحكيم.

Architecture first-year students presented their final projects in Architectural Drawing course. Under the guidance of Prof. Ossama Abdou, a distinguished Professor of architecture, and Arch. Mirna Philip, an Assistant Lecturer, the students showcased their remarkable achievements at the end of the semester. The event featured an internal evaluation, followed by recognition and awards ceremony for the top projects.

Distinguished Jurors Assess Architecture Students’ Graduation Projects

The Architecture Department hosted the graduation project jury for the class of 2022/2023. The four-day event marked a significant milestone for the senior students as they presented their final projects, showcasing their innovative ideas and designs.

This year, the Department had the privilege of welcoming esteemed guests, including Prof. Luca Deon from Hochschule Luzern in Switzerland, who served as an external juror as per the collaboration agreement between MIU and Hochschule Luzern.

In addition to Prof. Deon, the jury panel consisted of several renowned experts in the field of architecture, some of whom had previously attended the students’ midterm jury to closely monitor their progress. Prof. Amr AbdelKawi from the American University in Cairo, Prof. Mohamed Reda Abdallah from Cairo University, and Prof. Yasser Saqr, former President of Helwan University and an expert in Architecture and Urban Design, lent their invaluable insights and expertise to evaluate the students’ projects.

تسجيل التراث الثقافي والحفاظ عليه – رحلة ميدانية إلى موقع بناء بمنطقة سور مجرى العيون الأثرية

نظم قسم الهندسة المعمارية رحلة ميدانية يوم الاحد الموافق ١٦ يوليو ٢٠٢٣ إلى موقع تطوير منطقة سور مجرى العيون حيث سيتم نقل مصانع السباع الواقعة فيها إلى منطقة روبيكي. تعلم الطلاب من خلالها مراحل التنفيذ المختلفة عن المشروع. كما تعلموا كيفية نقل السكان وتوطين صناعتهم في منطقة جديدة. جاءت الرحلة الميدانية كجزء من خطة قسم الهندسة المعمارية لزيادة الوعي بأهمية نقل الصناعات خارج المناطق السكنية. وقد رافق الطلاب كلاً من وكيل كلية الهندسة لشئون خدمة المجتمع وتنمية البيئة واحد أعضاء الهيئة المعاونة خلال الزيارة للقيام بمساعدتهم في ربط المحتوى الأكاديمي بالتجربة العملية.

Residential & Commercial Complex at the New Administrative Capital: Students Showcase Impressive Projects in Final Jury

The Architecture Department held the final jury for the Architecture Design 4B course under the supervision of Dr. Tamer Awny, Dr. Mostafa El Attal, Dr. Moguib El Rahman, and Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Razek.

The event was a platform for students to present their innovative projects. The jury panel comprised prominent figures in the field of architecture: Prof. Yaser Saker (Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University), Prof. Ahmed Hosny Radwan (Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University), Prof. Mohamed Nabil Ghoniem (Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University)

The jury commended the efforts exerted by the students and offered insights to guide them towards further excellence.

Architecture Students Present Visionary Designs for Healing Centers in Aswan

The Architecture Department held the final jury for the Architecture Design 2B course under the theme of “Healing Center”. The projects were supervised by Dr. Mohamed Samir and Dr. Samar EL Nagar. The committee of external examiners included:

Prof. Rowayda Kamel (Professor of Architecture, Architecture Department, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University)

Prof. Sherif El-Attar (Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Fayoum University)

The “Rehabilitation Center” theme challenged the students to develop designs that catered to the specific needs of individuals requiring rehabilitation services in Aswan.

“Agile Ways of Working” workshop

In alignment with the mission of MIU to help students achieve their professional goals and prepare them for the future, the Alumni office, in cooperation with Deloitte, organized a workshop under the title “Agile Ways of Working” .

The workshop was given to Faculty of Computer Science and Faculty of Engineering Sciences & Arts – Department of Electronics and Communications students. It was facilitated by the International Agile coach Amy Safwat: Agile Coach, Consulting, Customer & Marketing – Deloitte UK.

Deloitte is one of the world’s leading consulting firms. It was established in Egypt in 1953 and achieved a prominent position by providing quality assurance and advisory services for more than 60 years. Deloitte serves multinational companies, large national corporations, selective prominent private businesses, as well as public sector companies and banks.

In addition to the workshop, Deloitte was present at a recruitment booth on campus, giving the opportunity to 180 software engineers to join their team.

مشروعات طلابية عن تكنولوجيا البناء والاستلهام من الطبيعة

عقد قسم الهندسة المعمارية يوم الأحد الموافق 3 يوليو 2022 لجنة التحكيم لمقرر تكنولوجيا البناء البيئي حيث تم عرض مشروعات الطلاب التي نفذت ضمن الفكرة الرئيسية «من الطبيعة إلى الهندسة المعمارية».

وتشكلت لجنة التحكيم من الأستاذة الدكتورة سمية بهي الدين أستاذ العمارة بجامعة عين شمس ومستشار رئيس الجمهورية لتنمية المجتمع، والأستاذ الدكتور خالد عبد العزيز أستاذ العمارة المعمارية بجامعة مصر الدولية.

تميزت المشروعات بعلاقتها المستوحاة من الشكل والوظيفة والبنية من الكائنات الحية، والتي طورت قدرة الطلاب على اختيار أمثلة من الحياة الواقعية لتطبيق هذه المعرفة.
