final evaluation process for the Dubing Course

As a final evaluation process for the Duبing Course, Al-Alsun Department held a jury to view, grade and evaluate students’ dubbed projects. Under the supervision of Al-Alsun staff along with Mr. Mohamed Ali, the Sound Director, 25 students managed to translate and record the dubbing of 5 projects ranging from animation movies to TV programs.

Students presented their work in front of a committee of professors where they explained the bits and pieces of their dubbing journey and challenges. All groups were later on praised for their outstanding performance.

Misr International University Theater competes in National Theater Festival

The MIU Theater Team presented the The Visit play written by the Swiss playwright Friedrich Dürrenmatt. The play recounts the story of a very poor town devastated by revenge. Claire Zachanassian arrives, an eccentric, fabulously rich old lady who proposes to give to the people of the town a large amount of money under one condition: to kill one fellow citizen of them, named Ill, who, when Claire was seventeen years old, he left her and caused her disgraceful expulsion of the town.

The team included: 8 actors from the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Mass Communication (2 from the Al-Alsun Department 6 from Mass Communication Department), 3 from the Faculty of Business Administration, 3  from the Faculty of Engineering, 2 from the Faculty of Dentistry, and 2 from the Faculty of Computer Science.

The play was performed at the Heliopolis Library Theater on June 5-6, 2022 and the Maadi Library Theater on September 2, 2022. The MIU Theater Team achieved great success at the Afaq and National Theater Festivals.

Several critics praised their performance in several Egyptian newspapers, including Al-Ahram and Al-Masry Al-Youm.

مسرح جامعة مصر الدولية ينافس في المهرجان القومي للمسرح

قدم فريق المسرح بجامعة مصر الدولية مسرحية “الزيارة” من تأليف الكاتب المسرحي السويسري فريدريش دورنمات، وتحكي عن قصة انتقام في مدينة ساء بها الحال وأصبح كل ما فيها خرابًا، ويولد لأهل المدينة الأمل في العيش مرة أخرى عندما تعرض عليهم العجوز المليونيرة، ابنة المدينة التي طُردت منها منذ أربعين عامًا، مبلغًا ماليًا يفوق خيالهم فقط من أجل قتل واحد منهم وهو (إل)، حبيبها السابق الذي تسبب في مأساتها.

شارك بالتمثيل في العرض 8 طلاب من كلية الألسن والإعلام (طالبان من قسم الألسن 6 طلاب من قسم الإعلام)، و3طلاب من كلية إدارة الأعمال، و3 طلاب من كلية الهندسة، وطالبان من كلية الأسنان، وطالبان من كلية علوم الحاسب.

وتم عرض المسرحية ثلاث مرات على مسرحي مكتبة مصر الجديدة يومي 5-6 يونيو 2022 ومكتبة المعادي يوم 2 سبتمبر 2022 في عروض كاملة العدد. وحقق أعضاء الفريق من الطلاب نجاحًا باهرًا في مهرجاني آفاق والمهرجان القومي للمسرح. كما أشاد العديد من النقاد بمستوى العرض والأداء في عدة صحف منها الأهرام والمصري اليوم.

Mass Communication Seminar Explores Creative Directing in Advertising

The Department of Mass Communication at the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Mass Communication organized a seminar under the theme “Creative Directing in Advertising” in the university auditorium OOA on Monday, October 17, 2022.

The seminar, which aimed at acquainting Mass Communication students with the dynamic world of creative advertising, attracted 30 students. It was moderated by Islam Hossam, a freelance creative director with an impressive portfolio, including contributions to advertising campaigns for renowned brands such as Nestle, Coca Cola, Vodafone, and others. 

The focal point of the seminar was the transformative influence of social media tools on the advertising landscape, rendering it more engaging and appealing to consumers. Hossam, through a compelling presentation, illustrated how his directed ads gained popularity and recognition over time, shedding light on the key factors contributing to his success.

As an alumnus of MIU, Islam Hossam dedicated part of the seminar to fostering an open discussion with students. This interactive session delved into their thoughts and apprehensions concerning the work environment in the marketing communication industry. Hossam provided valuable insights on integrating theoretical knowledge with the practical demands of the field.

Given the ever-evolving nature of the advertising industry, especially with the rapid emergence of social media and its varied tools, the Mass Communication department remains committed to offering students a glimpse into the latest trends and industry influencers. This proactive approach aims to inspire and prepare students for the dynamic landscape of the advertising profession.

MIU MCM students meet with Minister of Social Solidarity Nivine El-Kabbag

Mass Communication students of the Integrated Marketing Communication program at Misr International University had the honor of meeting with the esteemed Minister of Social Solidarity, Nivine El-Kabbag, on June 8, 2023, at the Ministry. This meeting was a significant milestone for the students’ “Rou7” Graduation Project, which focuses on raising awareness about the correct ways to rescue the homeless from the streets.

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the students’ campaign aims to address the issue of homelessness in Egyptian society by educating the public on the proper procedures to follow when encountering homeless individuals. The students are passionate about highlighting the Ministry’s extensive efforts in rehabilitating the homeless and reintegrating them into society.

The campaign, spearheaded by students Shaden ElMasry, Hana Aguiz, Hadil Mareey, Nermin Hussein, Lemma Wazzan, Hannah Moharram, Yomna Farouk, and Mariam Fagelnour, aims to shed light on the action-based campaigns initiated by the Ministry of Social Solidarity. Their goal is to raise awareness about the rescue institutions affiliated with the Ministry, which play a crucial role in providing aid and support to the homeless.

The students express their gratitude to the Minister of Social Solidarity, Nivine El-Kabbag, for her support and guidance throughout this project. They are proud to be part of a campaign that brings attention to such a vital societal issue and highlights the significant efforts made by the Ministry in tackling homelessness.

Faculty of Al-Alsun & Mass Communication Celebrates its 2nd Annual Community Service Day

The Community Service and Environment Development Sector of the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Mass Communication celebrated its 2nd Annual Community Service Day under the slogan, “Helping People … Changing Lives” on May 8, 2023. 

In her welcome speech, Professor Laila Galal Rizk, Dean of the Faculty, emphasized encouraging and promoting volunteerism as an important step towards creating a better future for the community.  She thanked the different community partners present and Faculty members for their efforts, and commended the students for engaging in community service work which would not only prepare them to become active members in their community, but would also make a difference in their career prospects. 

Professor Hanan Kilani, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environment Development, highlighted , in her welcome speech, the Faculty’s community service efforts during the past year. She thanked Faculty members, students, and community partners for their contributions in activities on and off campus, emphasizing the need to continue pursuing more accomplishments and setting new community service goals to keep pace with Egypt’s Vision 2030 agenda for sustainable development.

The community service event showcased two short videos highlighting the Faculty’s community service contributions,  and featuring the students’ projects and assignments that target community service activities.  In addition, Dr. Noha Talaat, member of the National Council for Human Rights, Secretary of the National Alliance for Civil Development Action, Deputy Executive Director of the National Institute of Cancer, and Ambassador of the “Decent Life” initiative, gave a motivational speech about the importance of voluntary work and her personal experience in contributing to charity work.  She also talked about the Decent Life initiative, its history and the many benefits of volunteering in this initiative.

Mrs. Shahinz Anwar, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Friends of the Bright Tomorrow Association for Disabilities, then introduced the attendees to her own journey in serving special needs persons and to the establishment of the Friends of the Bright TomorrowAssociation. Trophies and certificates of appreciation were distributed to honor community partners, Faculty members and students for their contributions to various community service activities.

On the sidelines of the celebration, Ms. Rasha Esmat, Head of Programs Sector at Egypt’s Society for Culture and Development, was offered some inspirational books that Al-Alsun students designed in their graduation projects to be donated to the public libraries that she supervises. The graphic books and stories were designed to empower readers to develop their personal and social skills with the aim of serving the community and the society at large.

Faculty of Al-Alsun and Mass Communication Organizes Seminar on Causes and Preventive Measures of Earthquakes

To mitigate the fear of earthquakes that has recently increased worldwide, the Community Service and Environment Development Sector of the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Mass Communication organized a seminar on “Earthquakes: Causes, Effects and Preventive measures” on March 22, 2023. 

The seminar was led by Dr. Amr El-Sharkawy, a researcher at the National Research Institute for Astronomy and Geophysics, an assistant professor in the Faculty of Earth Sciences, Beni Suef University, and a visiting researcher in the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Mathematics, Keele University, Germany.

Dr. El-Sharkawy discussed the causes of earthquakes, the methods of measuring the earthquakes’ strength and location, and the information provided by seismic monitoring networks, especially in the Arab Republic of Egypt.  In addition, Dr. El-Sharkawy explored how recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria occurred,  and  gave tips on how to survive earthquakes.

Faculty of Al-Alsun and Mass Communication Visits Old Age Home in Ain Shams

In order to meet the aim of promoting healthy lives and well-being for all ages, the Community Service and Environment Development Sector in the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Mass Communication visited Dar Al Taqwa Association for Elderly Care, an old age home in Ain Shams district on March 20, 2023.  Dar El-Taqwa sponsors 25 seniors, providing them with food, shelter, medical care, and entertainment.

Professor Hanan Kilani, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environment Development and Ms. Nadine Nasef,, Al-Alsun teaching assistant and community service committee member, conducted a workshop on the proper healthy lifestyle for the elderly, stressing the importance of drinking a plenty of water every day to stay hydrated, eating fruit and vegetables, and doing some physical exercises to help maintain good health.

The community service members also donated a number of medical appliances, health promotion posters designed by Mass Communication students, and food products with clear English and Arabic nutrition instructions provided by Al-Alsun staff, to help the elderly follow a healthier lifestyle. At the end of the visit, the association’s managers and supervisors filled out a survey highlighting the services that the Faculty may provide in future visits.

Faculty of Al-Alsun and Mass Communication Promotes Marketing of Products of Special Needs’ People

In an attempt to support the creation of an inclusive society that shows respect for human rights, the Community Service and Environment Development Sector visited “Friends of Bright Tomorrow Association for Special Needs” (Al-Ghad Al-Mashreq Association), along with four Mass Communication students on March 15, 2023 to help in marketing the products manufactured by the special needs residents.

Sarah Majed, a Mass Communication teaching assistant, conducted a photography workshop for some of the association’s employees teaching them various tips to improve their photography skills  and discuss their past photography mistakes so they can avoid them in future work. In addition, the students participating in the visit filmed a 5-minute news report, which included a presentation of the various rehabilitation activities of the association and the various products that the association manufactures and sells in various exhibitions, in order to help the association market its products on social media.

Faculty of Al-Alsun and Mass Communication Raises Awareness of Climate Change

To address the sustainable development goal of limiting and adapting to climate change, the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Mass Communication held a seminar titled, “Climate Change: Causes, Consequences & Possible Solutions” on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.  Dr. Enas Elshatoury, Professor of environmental microbiology in the Faculty of Science at Ain Shams University, presented an overview of the climate change that is affecting all countries worldwide.

Professor Elshatoury highlighted both natural and human causes of climate change. The natural causes include volcanic eruptions, ocean currents, plate tectonics, and solar-terrestrial effects. On the other hand, human activities comprise industrialization, transportation, landfills, and deforestation. She also demonstrated the estimated climate change impact on the world economy, water supplies, population displacement and poverty levels over the coming thirty years.

Professor Elshatoury also referred to the recommendations of the COP 27 conference held in Sharm El-Sheikh in November 2022, which focused on the importance of acting through Egyptian governmental sustainability initiatives to incorporate climate change measures into national strategies and planning. She concluded by providing tips that individuals can follow to reduce carbon dioxide emissions through carpooling, the use of public transportation, planting trees and switching to clean energy.
