Academic Advising Center
The Academic Advising Center at MIU aims to promote both the academic success and personal development of undergraduate & postgraduate students. As students create their own unique paths through their academic journey, academic advising is a key to a successful student experience.
The role of the academic advisor:
The academic advisor assists MIU students in taking full advantage of the broad range of opportunities available through forming effective mentoring relationships.
Academic advisors work directly with students to
- Discuss and develop academic progress.
- Assist with course/schedule selection based on personal abilities and goals.
- Provide guidance on curriculum requirements.
- Provide advice when considering changing majors.
- Give consultation when thinking of dropping courses.
- Discuss problems to overcome obstacles to academic success.
- Develop graduation plan that best cohere with evolving interests.
- Discuss career considerations.
