The role of the academic advisor:
The academic advisor assists MIU students in taking full advantage of the broad range of opportunities available through forming effective mentoring relationships.
Academic advisors work directly with students to
Discuss and develop academic progress.
Assist with course/schedule selection based on personal abilities and goals.
Provide guidance on curriculum requirements.
Provide advice when considering changing majors.
Give consultation when thinking of dropping courses.
Discuss problems to overcome obstacles to academic success.
Develop graduation plan that best cohere with evolving interests.
Discuss career considerations.
