استكشاف المعلوماتية الحيوية والنمذجة التنبؤية في الرعاية الصحية الشخصية

أدار د. عبد الرحمن السيد جلسة حوار بعنوان “المعلوماتية الحيوية والنمذجة التنبؤية في مجال الطب الشخصي” بكلية الصيدلة جامعة مصر الدولية، في 25 يوليو 2023.

تناولت جلسة الحوار، المصممة خصيصًا للطلاب والخريجين وأعضاء هيئة التدريس، تحديات المقاومة العلاجية والسموم المرتبطة بالعلاج في المجال الطبي.

قام د. عبد الرحمن السيد، الخبير في مراقبة جودة الأدوية بهيئة الدواء المصرية (EDA)، وزميل أبحاث ما بعد الدكتوراه السابق في مستشفى سانت جود لأبحاث الأطفال بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، بمشاركة الحضور بعض الرؤى القيمة حول الطب الشخصي.

وأكد د. عبد الرحمن خلال الجلسة على استخدام المعلوماتية الحيوية والنمذجة التنبؤية لتحديد درجات المخاطر الجينية، مما يتيح توقع المستجيبين الضعفاء مسبقًا والتخطيط الاستراتيجي لخيارات العلاج. وقد تم تنظيم هذه الجلسة في إطار التزام جامعة مصر الدولية تجاه تنمية مهارات أعضاء هيئة التدريس والهيئة المعاونة وتقديم خدمات الإرشاد المهني للطلاب والخريجين.

Exploring Bioinformatics and Predictive Modeling in Personalized Healthcare

On the 25th of July 2023, Dr. Abdel Rahman Elsayed held a session titled “Bioinformatics and Predictive Modeling in the Realm of Personalized Medicine” at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Misr International University.

This event, tailored for students, alumni, and faculty staff, addressed the challenges of therapeutic resistance and treatment-related toxicities in the medical field.

Dr. Elsayed, a drug quality control specialist at the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), and former postdoctoral research fellow at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – USA, shared valuable insights into personalized medicine.

The session emphasized the use of bioinformatics and predictive modeling to construct polygenic risk scores, enabling the anticipation of poor responders and the strategic planning of treatment options. This aligns with Misr International University’s commitment to staff development and career counseling.

Advancements in Molecular Dynamics Simulations for Drug Discovery Workshop

The Faculty of Pharmacy at MIU is delighted to announce the successful completion of The Drug Discovery Molecular Dynamics Simulations Workshop conducted by Prof. Dr. Khaled Hassan Barakat, Professor of Pharmaceutical Science at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Alberta, Alberta, Canada. Dr. Khaled conducted a comprehensive series of sessions from July 16th to July 20th, 2023, focusing on advanced techniques in Computer-Aided Drug Design (CADD).

These sessions provided staff, alumni, and student representatives with valuable insights in relation to CADD and the biopharmaceutical industry.  

The Faculty of Pharmacy Hosting a Strategic Planning Workshop

The Faculty of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the UAE-based Center for Learning Innovations and Tailored Knowledge Solutions (CLICKS), hosted a virtual workshop on strategic planning for the faculty leaders and strategic planning team as well as a number of the faculty alumni. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Mokhtar Benhadria, CLICK’s International Associate and Head of Quality Assurance Division, International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), Malaysia and Dr. Narimane Hadj-Hamou, Founder and CEO, CLICKS, UAE.

The objective of the workshop was to give participants an overview of the recent tools and techniques for formulating a well-developed strategic plan, emphasizing the significance of translating the faculty’s mission into quantifiable SMART objectives and effective KPIs.

Faculty members had the opportunity to analyze and discuss the Faculty’s strategic plan with the workshop facilitators in an effort to reevaluate and improve the present goals, objectives, KPIs, and strategic initiatives.

MIU Faculty of Pharmacy offers “Statistics for Clinicians” workshop

The Development, Awareness, and Training Committee of the MIU Faculty of Pharmacy collaborated with Trust Research Center to host a condensed six-day hybrid workshop titled “Statistics for Clinicians” from February 6 to February 16, 2023. The workshop was led by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Hassouna, CEO of Trust Research Center, and Dr. Mohammed Gumaa, Co-founder and Executive Manager of TRUST Research Center.

Attended by 23 staff members and preceptors from MIU affiliated hospitals, the workshop focused on the fundamentals of biostatistics, appropriate testing in clinical studies, statistical diagnostic accuracy testing, and proper statistical data interpretation. The participants received theoretical knowledge, statistical application quizzes, and hands-on training with the SPSS statistical program.

The workshop concluded with a question-and-answer session that reflected the participants’ interest in the workshop content. This workshop was organized to promote and develop research and offered a valuable opportunity for clinicians to learn and enhance their statistical skills.

“Plan, Organize, and Conduct an Effective Academic Event” Workshop

MIU Faculty of Pharmacy Staff Development, Awareness, and Training Committee hosted an intensive, interactive workshop titled “Plan, Organize, and Conduct an Effective Academic Event” on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.

The workshop was presented by Prof. Dr. Ashraf Khalil, Professor of Biotechnology at the Research Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, the City of Scientific Research, and the founder of the Euro-Mediterranean International Conference Series for Life Sciences, Pharmacy, and Biomedicine (BioNats). Dr. Samah Saeed, Assistant Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmacy, Misr International University was the co-presenter.

The faculty staff members who attended the workshop received certificates from the Quality Assurance Unit and BioNat Academy.

Faculty of Pharmacy Celebrating the World Pharmacist Day

The World Pharmacist Day, September 25, is an opportunity for us to come together and acknowledge the role of pharmacists in providing safe and effective healthcare to society. 

In conjunction with the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP)theme this year, “Pharmacy United in Action for a Healthier World,” the Faculty of Pharmacy, MIU organized a celebratory event to thank the distinguished Pharmacy Teaching Assistants who excelled in their departments during the past academic year.

International Accreditation Awareness Session

As part of the Faculty of Pharmacy mission to continually enhance the quality of education and in alignment with our pursuit of international accreditation, the faculty organized a session entitled “Preparing for the ACPE Visit, the GMU Experience” on the 9th of August 2022.

The session was given by Prof Dr. Sherief Khalifa, Vice President of the Gulf Medical University for Quality Affairs & International Cooperation, Vice President of the International Commission for the Accreditation Council for Pharmaceutical Education ACPE. Prof Khalifa gave an account of all the steps taken in the GMU experience in obtaining ACPE accreditation and answered all pertinent questions.

Workshop on Modern Applications of Analytical Electrochemistry

In accordance with the mission of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Misr International University to enhance the research skills of its members.  On Wednesday, February 9, 2022, the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry organized a workshop in the field of analytical electrochemistry. The workshop was conducted in cooperation with the Egyptian Medicines Authority, represented by Dr. Hassan Hendawy. The workshop was attended by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Emad El-Gendy, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Sami Emara, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and several faculty members and teaching assistants.

Attendees were introduced to various research areas in the field of electrochemistry and its uses in medical and pharmaceutical tests. They were also trained on how to synthesize selective electrodes, using the best materials as well as the techniques adopted to enhance their effectiveness. 

Faculty of Pharmacy Organizes Workshop to Develop Administrative Capabilities

MIU Faculty of Pharmacy organized a workshop titled “Leadership in Academia” to develop the administrative capabilities of the faculty members on Monday, January 24, 2022, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, room OOB.

The workshop was organized in coordination with the Quality and Accreditation Unit at the Faculty and under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Emad El-Gendy, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy. It was given by Dr. Haymen Zein, Assistant Professor in the Department of Astronomy, Faculty of Science, Cairo University, and a member of the Administrative Committee of the Center for Capacity Development of Faculty Members at Cairo University.

Deans of the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine participated in the workshop, which was also attended by the vice deans, heads of departments and faculty members of both faculties.

The workshop covered the definition and types of leadership, qualities of leaders, and strategies for successful leadership in complex adaptation situations. The participants discussed a number of case scenarios for general and health crises to find out the most effective leadership strategies to deal with them.
