The Faculty of Pharmacy at Misr International University was proud to participate in the 8th Regional Pharmacy Faculty Development Workshop, held on January 10-11, 2025, and co-organized by Dubai Medical University, in collaboration with the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP).

This remarkable event brought together pharmacy education leaders from across the region, offering a platform to explore innovative strategies and share experiences that enhance pharmacy education. The workshop addressed critical topics such as:

• Advancing Experiential Education and Preceptor Development
• Competency-Based Assessment and Skill Development
• The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Shaping Pharmacy Education

Representatives from the Faculty of Pharmacy at MIU exchanged insights and collaborated with deans and Faculty from diverse institutions including peers from Egypt and multiple countries across the region.

This participation reflects MIU’s commitment to fostering staff development and global engagement. We extend our gratitude to Dubai Medical University for hosting this impactful event and for creating an environment that encourages growth, collaboration and the sharing of best practices.

تفخر كلية الصيدلة بجامعة مصر الدولية بالمشاركة في ورشة العمل الإقليمية الثامنة لتطوير أعضاء هيئة التدريس الصيدلاني التي عقدت في الفترة من 10 إلى 11 يناير 2025 وشاركت في تنظيمها جامعة دبي الطبية بالتعاون مع مجلس اعتماد التعليم الصيدلي (ACPE) والجمعية الأمريكية لكليات الصيدلة (AACP).
وجمع هذا الحدث الرائع قادة التعليم الصيدلي من جميع أنحاء المنطقة مما وفر منصة لاستكشاف الاستراتيجيات المبتكرة وتبادل الخبرات التي تعزز التعليم الصيدلي. تناولت ورشة العمل موضوعات مهمة مثل:
1. النهوض بالتعليم التجريبي وتطوير المعلم
2. التقييم القائم على الكفاءة وتنمية المهارات
3. دور الذكاء الاصطناعي في تشكيل التعليم الصيدلي

The future of research and education was the focus of a workshop titled “The Strategic Role of Artificial Intelligence in Modern Research & Academia,” held on November 13, 2024. Hosted by the Faculty of Pharmacy Development, Awareness & Training Committee, the workshop brought together staff and teaching assistants to explore the transformative power of AI. Led by Dr. Alzahraa ElMowafi, a renowned physician and researcher from the National Research Centre in Egypt with over 20 years of experience, the session explored how AI can enhance research methodologies and improve the learning experience while maintaining the ethical considerations in its application.

استكشاف الدور الاستراتيجي للذكاء الاصطناعي في تطوير البحث والتعليم

نظمت لجنة تطوير الوعي والتدريب بكلية الصيدلة ورشة عمل بعنوان “الدور الاستراتيجي للذكاء الاصطناعي في البحث والتعليم” يوم الأربعاء الموافق 13 نوفمبر 2024.
قادت الورشة الدكتورة الزهراء الموفّقي، الطبيبة والباحثة البارزة من المركز القومي للبحوث في مصر والتي لديها خبرة تزيد عن 20 عامًا في طب الأطفال وحديثي الولادة وطب الرضاعة.
ناقش المشاركون خلال الورشة الطرق المبتكرة التي يمكن من خلالها توظيف الذكاء الاصطناعي لتعزيز البحث وتحسين تجربة التعلم. كما تناولت الورشة الجوانب الأخلاقية لتطبيق الذكاء الاصطناعي في المجال الأكاديمي.

On November 26, 2024, MIU’s Staff Development Committee hosted “Leadership: An Endless Journey,” a workshop presented by Prof. Nasser Al-Sharif, Dean of Lebanese American University. The workshop equipped faculty with practical leadership and mentorship strategies to foster innovation and collaboration, highlighting MIU’s commitment to a dynamic, supportive environment that promotes excellence.

في 26 نوفمبر 2024 تم تنظيم ورشة عمل بعنوان “القيادة: رحلة لا نهاية لها” قدمها أ. د. ناصر الشريف، عميد الجامعة اللبنانية الأميركية. زودت ورشة العمل أعضاء هيئة التدريس باستراتيجيات القيادة العملية والتوجيه لتعزيز الابتكار والتعاون مما يسلط الضوء على التزام جامعة مصر الدولية بتوفير بيئة ديناميكية وداعمة تعزز التميز.

On November 28, 2024, the Faculty of Pharmacy Development, Awareness and Training Committee hosted a staff development seminar on anticoagulant and antiplatelet therapy. Led by Dr. Hazem Elewa, Associate Professor and PharmD Program Director at Qatar University, the seminar provided Faculty members and teaching assistants with insights into launching a pharmacist-led anticoagulant clinic, including its requirements, challenges and significance. Participants also learned about tailoring oral anticoagulants, managing complications and making rational decisions regarding antiplatelet use.

تعزيز الخبرة السريرية في العلاج بمضادات التخثر ومضادات الصفائح الدموية

في 28 نوفمبر 2024 نظمت لجنة تطوير الوعي والتدريب بكلية الصيدلة ندوة لتطوير قدرات أعضاء هيئة التدريس حول العلاج بمضادات التخثر والعلاج بمضادات الصفائح الدموية. وقدمت الندوة التي أدارها الدكتور حازم علوي، أستاذ مشارك ومدير برنامج دكتور الصيدلة بكلية الصيدلة في جامعة قطر، معلومات قيّمة حول دور الدكتور علوي في إطلاق أول عيادة يديرها صيادلة لمضادات التخثر في قطر، بما في ذلك أهميتها ومتطلباتها والعقبات التي قد تواجهها.
تحدث د. علوي أيضًا عن كيفية تخصيص مضادات التخثر الفموية حسب حالة كل مريض وإدارة المضاعفات واتخاذ قرارات منطقية بشأن استخدام مضادات الصفائح الدموية.

The Development, Awareness and Training Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy hosted a two-day seminar on October 14th and 21st, 2024. The seminar was led by Dr. Abdulrahman Gamal, an MIU alumnus (Class of 2016) and current PhD candidate in Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Minnesota.

This seminar provided valuable peer learning opportunities, exploring trending pharmaceutical fields, including pharmacometrics, pharmacomicrobiomics, and pharmacogenomics. Faculty members and teaching assistants gained insights into cutting-edge advancements and the latest innovations in pharmaceutical research.

*ندوة تطوير أعضاء هيئة التدريس حول العلوم الصيدلانية الحديثة

نظمت لجنة تطوير أعضاء هيئة التدريس والتوعية والتدريب بكلية الصيدلة في جامعة مصر الدولية ندوة تطويرية على مدار يومين في 14 و21 أكتوبر 2024. وقد قاد الندوة الدكتور عبدالرحمن جمال، خريج جامعة مصر الدولية (دفعة 2016) وطالب دكتوراه في الصيدلة التجريبية والسريرية في جامعة مينيسوتا.قدمت الندوة فرص تعلم مشتركة قيمة، حيث استعرضت المجالات الصيدلانية الحديثة مثل الصيدلة الحسابية (فارماكومتريكس)، علم الميكروبيوم الصيدلاني (فارماكوميكروبيوميكس)، وعلم الوراثة الصيدلاني (فارماكوجينوميكس). وتمكن أعضاء هيئة التدريس والمعاونين من اكتساب رؤى حول آخر التطورات والابتكارات في مجال البحث الصيدلاني

On September 9th and 10^th 2024, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Misr International University hosted a two-day workshop titled “CommuniLead: Mastering Professional Communication for Academic Leadership.” Led by distinguished leadership expert Professor Maha Abo Shady, Head of Microbiology and Immunology Department and Vice-Manager of the Quality Assurance and Training Centre at Al-Azhar University, the workshop delved into essential topics such as leadership competencies, self-leadership strategies and effective communication techniques.

في يومي 9 و10 سبتمبر 2024 استضافت كلية الصيدلة بجامعة مصر الدولية ورشة عمل لمدة يومين بعنوان “إتقان التواصل المهني للقيادة الأكاديمية” قدمتها الخبيرة المتميزة في مجال القيادة الأستاذة الدكتورة مها أبو شادي، رئيس قسم الميكروبيولوجي والمناعة ونائب مدير مركز ضمان الجودة والتدريب بجامعة الأزهر. وتناولت الورشة موضوعات أساسية مثل مهارات القيادة واستراتيجيات القيادة الذاتية وأسس التواصل المهني.

From July 29th to 31st, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Misr International University held an engaging workshop on assessment practices, organized by the Development Awareness and Training Committee. The workshop offered academic staff the opportunity to refine their approach to program and curriculum evaluations, with a focus on improving the quality of the educational experience.

The sessions covered various key areas, including techniques for analyzing exam questions and applying rubrics to ensure fair and precise evaluations of student performance. Participants also explored the potential of e-portfolios to support self-reflection and ongoing development, as well as methods for incorporating peer assessment to encourage collaborative learning. A noteworthy aspect of the workshop was the faculty’s trial of the Prescribing Skills Assessment (PSA) developed by the British Pharmacological Society.

The workshop was led by Dr. Hekmat El Magdoub, Director of International Accreditation, Dr. Rania Salama, Head of the Clinical Pharmacy Department and Pharmacy Specialist Basma Mohamed. By the end of the workshop, attendees left with fresh perspectives and tools to strengthen their assessment methods, reflecting the faculty’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence.

استضافة كلية الصيدلة ورشة عمل ملهمة حول التقييم

في الفترة من 29 إلى 31 يوليو استضافت كلية الصيدلة بجامعة مصر الدولية ورشة عمل حول أساليب التقييم نظمتها لجنة التوعية والتطوير والتدريب. أتاحت الورشة لأعضاء هيئة التدريس فرصة لتطوير منهجياتهم في تقييم البرامج والمناهج الدراسية مع التركيز على تحسين جودة العملية التعليمية.
غطت الجلسات العديد من المحاور المهمة منها أساليب تحليل أسئلة الامتحانات واستخدام المعايير لضمان التقييم العادل والدقيق لأداء الطلاب. كما تعرف المشاركون على إمكانات الملفات الإلكترونية كأداة لدعم التقييم الذاتي والتنمية المستمرة وتعرفوا أيضًا على استراتيجيات لتطبيق تقييم الزملاء لبعضهم لتعزيز التعاون التعليمي. ومن أبرز محاور الورشة تجربة الكلية لاختبار مهارات الوصف الطبي (PSA) الذي طورته الجمعية الدوائية البريطانية.
أدارت الورشة الدكتورة حكمت المجدوب، مديرة الاعتماد الدولي والدكتورة رانيا سلامة، رئيسة قسم الصيدلة الإكلينيكية وأخصائية الصيدلة بسمة محمد. وبنهاية الورشة توصل المشاركون إلى أفكار جديدة وأدوات عملية لتعزيز أساليب التقييم مما يعكس التزام الكلية المستمر بالتميز الأكاديمي.

The Faculty of Pharmacy at Misr International University was honored to participate in the 7th Regional Pharmacy Faculty Development Workshop on “Best Practices for Assessment in Pharmacy Education.” This workshop, hosted by Gulf Medical University in Ajman, UAE, took place on January 13-14, 2024, with the aim of enhancing assessment practices in pharmacy education. The event was co-organized by UAE Ministry of Education Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA), the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
The workshop was led by distinguished experts: Prof. Melissa Medina, Interim Dean, Associate Dean for Assessment & Evaluation and Presidential Professor, Health Sciences Center College of Pharmacy, University of Oklahoma; Dr. Sarah Shrader, Senior Director of Academic Programs and Professional Development at the AACP; Prof. Craig Cox, PharmD, FCCP, BCPS, Pharmacy Practice & Division Head, Vice Chair, Experiential Programs, Health Sciences Center, Texas Tech University, and Dr. Michael Rouse, ACPE’s International Services Director. These experts played a pivotal role in facilitating discussions and exchanging insights on critical components of programmatic assessment, and attainment of the educational outcomes.
During the workshop, the Faculty of Pharmacy had the opportunity to share its own assessment practices through an engaging oral presentation titled ‘Transformative Integration of Technology in Programmatic Assessment for Enhancing Pharmacy Education at Misr International University.’ The presentation, jointly prepared by Dr. Manal Abouelkhier and Dr. Hekmat El Magdoub who both work for the Clinical Pharmacy Department, served as a platform for the Faculty to showcase the utilization of technology in its assessment approaches.

 شاركت كلية الصيدلة بجامعة مصر الدولية في الورشة السابعة لتطوير أعضاء هيئة تدريس كليات الصيدلة بعنوان “أفضل الممارسات في التقييم في التعليم الصيدلي”. نظمت الورشة جامعة الخليج الطبية في عجمان في الإمارات العربية المتحدة في 13-14 يناير 2024 بهدف تعزيز ممارسات التقييم في التعليم الصيدلي. وشارك في تنظيم الحدث الهيئة الوطنية للتعليم بوزارة التربية والتعليم بالإمارات (CAA) والجمعية الأمريكية لكليات الصيدلة (AACP) ومجلس اعتماد التعليم الصيدلي (ACPE) بمشاركة الأستاذ الدكتور ميليسا ميدينا مساعد العميد للتقييم بكلية الصيدلة في جامعة أوكلاهوما للعلوم الصحية والدكتور سارة شريدر مديرة البرامج الأكاديمية والتطوير المهني بالجمعية الأمريكية لكليات الصيدلة والأستاذ الدكتور كريغ كوكس، PharmD، FCCP، BCPS، أستاذ ممارسة مهنة الصيدلة ونائب العميد للبرامج التجريبية في مركز تكساس للعلوم الصحية بجامعة تكساس ودكتور مايكل راوز مدير برنامج الخدمات الدولية بمجلس اعتماد التعليم الصيدلي.

 كانت لكلية الصيدلة فرصة مشاركة ممارساتها الخاصة في التقييم من خلال عرض شفهي بعنوان “ا Transformative Integration of Technology in Programmatic Assessment for Enhancing Pharmacy Education at Misr International University..” العرض التقديمي قامت بإعداده دكتور منال أبو الخير ودكتور حكمت المجدوب بقسم الصيدلة الاكلينيكية مما ساهم في تبادل المعرفة والخبرات خلال ورشة العمل.

The Faculty of Pharmacy at Misr International University celebrated World Pharmacist Day (2023) by honoring dedicated Pharmacy Teaching Assistants (TAs). During the event, TAs who had excelled academically and those who had demonstrated excellence in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities were honored.

The Dean, Vice Deans, and staff members attended the ceremony. At the end of the event, the TAs received a certificate of appreciation from the Dean.

This event emphasized the vital role TAs play in educating future pharmacists.
