Pursuant to the fruitful cooperation between the Faculty of Pharmacy, Misr International University, and other research centers, Prof. Sami Emara, Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, on behalf of Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ahmed Emad El-Gendy, concluded a cooperation protocol with Dr. Omar Saqr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nawah Scientific Center. Nawah is the first multidisciplinary private research center in Egypt that supports scientific research in the fields of medical sciences.
The protocol aims to increase scientific cooperation between the two parties and contribute to the development of the Egyptian scientific community. In addition, the Faculty of Pharmacy and Nawah will cooperate to offer training opportunities and develop the skills of pharmacy students and graduates, to help them meet the needs of the local and international labor market. Hence, contributing to the development of the industry and pharmaceutical research, and achievement of the mission and strategic objectives of the faculty.
As part of community oriented medical education, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Misr International University, in cooperation with the Administration of El Salam Medical District, organized a symposium titled “The Improper Use of Medication during COVID-19 Pandemic” on Thursday, January 13, 2022.
The lecture featured Prof. Mona Shaalan, Professor of Clinical Pharmacy, Dr. Elham Ibrahim, Director of El Salam Medical District, and Dr. Nancy Fouad, Director of Health Education.
The event was attended by medical staff in El-Salam District, who appreciated this joint cooperation to enhance awareness raising skills of health workers.
Misr International University aims to serve and advance the community through academic education and scientific research; hence, the Faculty of Pharmacy signed a cooperation protocol with the International Center for Bioavailability and Pharmaceutical and Clinical Research (ICBR), which is one of the largest centers specialized in pharmaceutical research in Egypt, accredited by the GCC Health Council.
The protocol was signed by Prof. Sami Emara, Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Ahmed Emad El-Gendy, and Prof. Fathi Ibrahim, Chairman and Managing Director of ICBR. The protocol aims to achieve the mission and strategic objectives of the faculty, by increasing the competitiveness of its graduates through offering field training opportunities for students and developing the skills and knowledge of graduates in the fields of pharmaceutical manufacturing and pharmaceutical practices, to provide the community with outstanding professionals, and to support scientific research and innovation to advance the Egyptian health system.
In light of the constant care of the Faculty of Pharmacy Misr International University, to develop the capabilities of students and provide them with the necessary technical skills in the field of drug production and industry, the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology organized a scientific visit for fifth-year students to Al-Motahedoon Pharma Company for the manufacture of medicine, medical supplies and cosmetics in the Tenth of Ramadan City.
The students got acquainted with all the departments in the factory, including the production department, the packaging department, the storage, the marketing department, as well as the quality assurance laboratories to learn about the different methods of evaluating pharmaceutical products. They also received a detailed explanation from the specialists in the factory about the various stages of manufacturing different medical solutions (from the raw material to the final product). At the end of the visit students expressed gratitude for the knowledge they have gained, which will help them later in their practical life.
The Faculty of Pharmacy and members of DIMAS Student Club kicked off “A Call for Good” campaign to donate used and new items such as clothes, toys, shoes, bags…etc. to the underprivileged people in Khanka city.
An appeal was sent to all students, faculty members and university employees by the organizers of the initiative to give away new or used clothes.
“A Call for Good” drive was launched from Sunday, January 9, 2022, and continued until Thursday, January 13, 2022. The donated items were dropped off in front of Pharmacy building. They will later be sorted out and distributed in Khanka city in cooperation with the Directorate of Social Affairs in Qalyubia Governorate.
In line with the Career Counseling Committee mission, Professor Sherief Khalifa gave an online session on the 19th of December, 2020, to pharmacy senior students, under the title “The What, Why and How in Career Decisions”. The session introduced the future pharmacists to possible career options and how they can choose the best pathway that suits their abilities. The presentation aimed at encouraging senior students to continue learning and take advantage of the digital world to engage with national, regional, and international organizations. Moreover, Prof. Khalifa encouraged the students to imply more effort, hence, improve their communication and soft skills to boost their reliabilities in the workplace.
As part of its community service activities, the Faculty of Pharmacy, MIU, organized a First-aid training course for the students of the English School in Cairo from the 10th till the 12th of October, 2021 with the purpose of emphasizing the crucial importance of First aid in minimizing injury and future disability. The students were taught the basic skills needed to help adults and children in many emergency situations. The course was held on the school premises by Dr. Fetouh Hassanin, Associate professor of Pediatrics, Clinical Pharmacy Department, Misr International University.
The Faculty of Pharmacy in collaboration with BioNat Global academy was honored to hold an intensive 2-day workshop on the 8th and 15th of November entitled “Management of Biological and Chemical Lab Wastes”.
The workshop was given by Dr. Azhar Gaber, Associate Professor of Biotechnology and certified professional Biosafety and Bio-waste manager at the International Federation of Biosafety Association (IFBA). The workshop targeted the lab technicians at the faculties of Pharmacy and Dentistry in addition to the senior Teaching assistants.
The faculty of Pharmacy organized a seminar entitled “The impact ranking: Demonstrating our impact on the world we live in” on November 10,2021.
The seminar covered an explanation of the significances of university ranking, the different organizations responsible for global ranking, impact ranking and the methodology applied in the ranking process.
The seminar was held simultaneously both on-Campus and via zoom by Dr. Rania Salama, Associate professor of Pharmacology & Toxicology, Clinical Pharmacy Department, Misr International University. The target audience was the faculty members including professors, associate professors & assistant professors.
The Faculty Pharmacy organized a seminar entitled “Meet Pharma Entrepreneur” on Tuesday 9/11/2021 at 11:30 in Room OOA. The guest speaker was Dr. Mahmoud Farrag, GM & Co-founder of Parkville Pharmaceuticals.
