Faculty of Pharmacy hosts “My Degree, My Career, and My Next Move” Session for Pharmacy Students

The Career Counseling Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy hosted a session for junior and senior pharmacy students, as well as recent graduates, titled “My Degree, My Career, and My Next Move” on February 21, 2023.  The event aimed to prepare future pharmacists to become competent pharmaceutical care providers.

The guest of honor at the event was Professor Sherief Khalifa, Vice Chancellor for Quality and Institutional Effectiveness, Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University, and Chair of the ACPE International Commission. Prof. Khalifa stressed the importance of motivation and mentorship in career development, as well as continuing education.

The session emphasized the significance of understanding an individual’s self-passion, skills, and strengths in identifying opportunities that would be the best career decision. Additionally, the session acquainted students with how to value the quality of their degree in light of the recently granted provisional International-Accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

Pharmacy Preceptorship Day and MOU Signing Ceremony with Mash Premiere Pharmaceutical Company

The Office of Pharmacy Experiential Training (OPET), Faculty of Pharmacy, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Mash Premiere Pharmaceutical Company on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.

The Memorandum was signed by Prof. Dr. Samy Emara, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Dr. Sherif Shaker, Mash Premiere Pharmaceutical Company Learning and Developing Manager.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Mohamed Marie, Mash Premiere HR Director, Dr. Ibram Samy, Mash Premiere Learning and Development Department, the Faculty of Pharmacy Vice Deans, members of the Quality Assurance Unit, and the OPET staff.

The MOU strengthens the academic collaboration between the two parties towards enhancing students’ pharmaceutical sales and manufacturing skills and enriching research contributions. It also allows for exchanging knowledge and experiences and developing academic programs to meet community needs.

Pharmacy Preceptorship Day and MOU Signing Ceremony with Al Galaa Military Hospital

On Monday, January 23, 2023, the Office of Pharmacy Experiential Training (OPET), Faculty of Pharmacy, MIU, held a ceremony to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Al Galaa Military Hospitals.

The MOU was signed by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Emad Elgendy, MIU Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, and Dr. Omnia Mahmoud, Head of the Clinical Pharmacy Department at Al Galaa Military Hospital. This MOU aims to strengthen the academic relationship between the two parties, enrich research collaboration, and exchange knowledge and experiences.

The signing ceremony was attended by the MIU Faculty of Pharmacy Dean, Vice-Deans, Department Heads, OPET staff, members of the Quality Assurance Unit and Al Galaa Military Hospital Senior Clinical Pharmacist Dr. Omar Hegab.

“Plan, Organize, and Conduct an Effective Academic Event” Workshop

MIU Faculty of Pharmacy Staff Development, Awareness, and Training Committee hosted an intensive, interactive workshop titled “Plan, Organize, and Conduct an Effective Academic Event” on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.

The workshop was presented by Prof. Dr. Ashraf Khalil, Professor of Biotechnology at the Research Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, the City of Scientific Research, and the founder of the Euro-Mediterranean International Conference Series for Life Sciences, Pharmacy, and Biomedicine (BioNats). Dr. Samah Saeed, Assistant Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmacy, Misr International University was the co-presenter.

The faculty staff members who attended the workshop received certificates from the Quality Assurance Unit and BioNat Academy.

Artificial Intelligence in Pharmacy Career

The MIU Faculty of Pharmacy Career Counseling Committee hosted a session for senior students and alumni on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, titled “How Artificial Intelligence is Improving Predictive Analysis in Healthcare.” Dr. Mohamed Faisal, Principal Manager of Consultile Agency, a Consulting and Digital Marketing firm with experts in healthcare and pharmaceutical industry, moderated the session.

The session discussed how artificial intelligence (AI) uses large amounts of data to identify or explain patterns. This has the potential to change how we discover new drugs, deliver care, and solve other medical challenges, transforming healthcare around the world.

At the end of the session, Dr. Samy Emara, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and faculty staff members met with Dr. Faisal to discuss future collaboration between MIU and Consultile in training MIU pharmacy students in the fields of digital health, digital marketing, and consultations.

MIU Pharmacy Students Visit Giza Ambulance Centre

The Faculty of Pharmacy at MIU organized a visit to the Giza Ambulance Centre for 26 students on December 20, 2022. The visit was held in collaboration with the Egyptian Ambulance Authority Center, which provided an opportunity for the students to learn about the various departments of the authority and how to deal with emergency situations.

The ambulance staff first demonstrated the different departments of the authority in a meeting room, followed by dividing the students into groups. The students then entered the operating room and responded to real emergency calls, gaining valuable hands-on experience.

Additionally, the students were given a detailed explanation of the authority’s capabilities, including the river ambulance and motorcycle ambulance. The visit proved to be an enriching experience for the students, allowing them to gain practical knowledge and skills to aid them in their future careers

قامت مجموعة مكونة من 26 طالب وطالبة من كلية الصيدلة في 20 ديسمبر 2022 بزيارة ميدانية لهيئة الإسعاف المصرية بالجيزة حيث تعرف الطلاب على أقسام الهيئة المختلفة وطريقة التعامل مع بلاغات الطوارئ ثم تم تقسيم الطلاب الي مجموعات ودخلوا غرفة العمليات واستمعوا إلي مكالمات الطوارئ كما أستمعوا إلى شرح مفصل عن إمكانيات الهيئة المختلفة بما فيها الإسعاف النهري والموتوسيكل الإسعافي.

“Career Pathway of Pharmacoeconomics and Market Access”

In line with the continuous efforts of the Faculty of Pharmacy to provide valuable insights, guidance, and resources to help its students navigate the complex world of careers and achieve their professional goals, the Pharmacy Career Counseling Committee, on December 19, 2022, hosted a session for senior students and alumni, titled “Career Pathway of Pharmacoeconomics and Market Access”. The session was presented by Dr. Islam Annan, founder, and CEO of Accsight. The lecture highlighted the importance of drug marketing and the great development in the science of Pharmacoeconomics and its impact on health decision-makers in the country.

You Are the Next Success Story Campaign by Youth Leader Foundation organization (YLF)

From 27/11/2022 to 1/12/2022 the Faculty of Pharmacy, in coordination with the Youth Leaders Foundation, a non-profit NGO, conducted awareness campaigns for MIU students about the Leaders Program. During this period, representatives of the Foundation were present daily from 10 am to 4:30 pm to give out application forms and conduct interviews to interested students.  

Two sessions were given by the Foundation representatives. The first was conducted on Sunday 27/11/ 2022, introducing the Program. The second was given on Wednesday 30/11/2022 by Mr. Ahmed Fathi, Executive Director of the Youth Leaders Foundation, about the activities of the Foundation and how they affect the various aspects of youth personalities.

قامت كلية الصيدلة بجامعة مصر الدولية بالتنسيق مع مؤسسة شباب القادة، وهي مؤسسة أهلية غير هادفة للربح، بعمل حملات توعية داخل الجامعة لطلاب الكليات المختلفة عن برنامج القادة، وذلك في الفترة من 27/11/2022 إلى 1/12/2022. وقد تواجد ممثلو المؤسسة خلال هذه الفترة يوميًا من الساعة العاشرة صباحًا إلى الرابعة والنصف مساء لتلقي استمارات التقديم للبرنامج وعمل المقابلات والاختبارات اللازمة للمتقدمين. وقد تم تنظيم جلسة تعريفية من قبل ممثلي المؤسسة عن البرنامج يوم الأحد الموافق 27/11/2022. كما قام الأستاذ أحمد فتحي، المدير التنفيذي لمؤسسة شباب القادة بإلقاء محاضرة عن أنشطة المؤسسة وكيفية تأثيرها في الجوانب المختلفة لشخصيات الشباب وذلك يوم الأربعاء الموافق 30/11/2022.

Blood Donation Campaign

In collaboration with the National Blood Transfusion Services at the Egyptian Ministry of Health, the Faculty of Pharmacy organized the annual on campus blood donation campaign for three days (November 28–30, 2022), during which students and university staff donated 372 blood bags under the slogan “A drop of blood equals a life.”

Pharmacy students, particularly members of the Drug Information and Medical Awareness Services (DIMAS) club made a remarkable effort during this campaign by producing numerous banners and leaflets emphasizing the importance of blood donation.  

Visit to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization

The Faculty of Pharmacy, Misr International University, organized a trip to the Museum of Egyptian Civilization, Fustat, for 42 children from El-Salam city.  The trip, which was held in collaboration with the Egyptian Red Crescent in Al-Nahda, took place on November 22, 2022.

MIU students, members of Dimas Student Club, accompanied the children and made the trip both fun and educational by helping raise the children’s health awareness about how respiratory infections spread.
