The Faculty of Pharmacy students who are members of International Hepatitis C Club (IHEPC) participated in the arrangement of a trip to Wonderland Park on February 17th, 2022 for ElAmal Orphanage kids.
The day was full of joy and fun. The kids enjoyed a variety of activities, games, homemade sandwiches, and beverages, all prepared by the students. Kids were also very excited by the puppet show presented especially for them.
On December 24th, 2021, as part of the community service and social solidarity enhancement, more than 80 Faculty of Pharmacy students who are members of ASC Club, along with other students from different faculties, went to Salem Gad village in Fayoum. Students distributed 550 blankets to the needy to help keep them warm and comfortable during the cold winter nights.
As part of the endeavors of Misr International University to enhance health awareness among members of the Egyptian community, TEDx-MIU club invited Dr. Wafaa Nabil Eltayeb, Professor of Microbiology, and Immunology at MIU, to give an awareness session titled “The Silent Killer” on the 30th of August 2021. The session highlighted the threat of bacteria becoming super bugs and the approach that should be done before antibiotics deemed vain.
Within the framework of the University’s active role in community service, and in cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent represented by the Central Blood Bank, the Faculty of Pharmacy participated in the annual on-campus blood donation campaign. Pharmacy students in general and in particular DIMAS members took part in this 2-day campaign which was organized on January 11 and 12, 2022, from 10 am to 3 pm next to the University Mosque. The campaign aims to spread awareness about the importance of donating blood as a social responsibility and a noble humanitarian act that can save the lives of thousands through ensuring that safe blood of different types will always be accessible to patients in need.
Before the start of the campaign, Pharmacy students held small-scale seminars to spark attention to the importance of donating blood. A fully equipped bloodmobile with sufficient beds was provided by the Central Blood Bank in coordination with the University to facilitate the donation drive, which was under the supervision of a team of doctors from the Central Blood Bank.
Prior to donating blood, a series of health check-ups, including blood pressure and hemoglobin level measurements, are performed to make sure donors are in good health. In addition, the donors were informed that their blood will be screened for Hepatitis C, and the results will be sent to them in sealed envelopes bearing the name of each donor. A few students were not eligible to donate and were turned down.
As part of community oriented medical education, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Misr International University, in cooperation with the Administration of El Salam Medical District, organized a symposium titled “The Improper Use of Medication during COVID-19 Pandemic” on Thursday, January 13, 2022.
The lecture featured Prof. Mona Shaalan, Professor of Clinical Pharmacy, Dr. Elham Ibrahim, Director of El Salam Medical District, and Dr. Nancy Fouad, Director of Health Education.
The event was attended by medical staff in El-Salam District, who appreciated this joint cooperation to enhance awareness raising skills of health workers.
As part of its community service activities, the Faculty of Pharmacy, MIU, organized a First-aid training course for the students of the English School in Cairo from the 10th till the 12th of October, 2021 with the purpose of emphasizing the crucial importance of First aid in minimizing injury and future disability. The students were taught the basic skills needed to help adults and children in many emergency situations. The course was held on the school premises by Dr. Fetouh Hassanin, Associate professor of Pediatrics, Clinical Pharmacy Department, Misr International University.
أطلقت كلية الصيدلة فى الفصل الدراسى الأول للعام الجامعى 2018/2019 حملة توعية عن المبادئ الأساسية للإسعافات الأولية وذلك تحت إشراف الدكتور/ فتوح حسانين أستاذ مادة الإسعافات الأولية بالكلية وكانت تهدف هذه الحملة إلى نشر الوعي الصحي بين الطلاب وبث روح التعاون والمساعدة بينهم. وأيضا إكساب الطلاب أنماط سلوكية صحية سليمة ونقلها بدورهم إلى أسرهم ومجتمعاتهم المحلية والتعرف على أنواع الأمراض المختلفة وطرق الوقاية منها. وقد تم تدريب الطلاب على الإسعافات الأولية وبعض المهارات الطبية البسيطة وربط النشاط بالمقررات الدراسية.
وقام الطلاب الحاصلين على دورات في الإسعافات الأولية من خلال الدراسة بالجامعة بتنظيم محاضرات تدريبية لباقى طلاب الجامعة من الكليات المختلفة و تنظيم زيارات إلى أماكن عديدة مزدحمة بالأفراد مثل المدارس والنوادى والكنائس والأندية الرياضية والمقاهى للوقوف على الأسلوب الأمثل علمياً في هذا المجال. وأيضا ايضاح مبادئ السلامة والأمان والإسعافات الأولية وخطوات الطوارئ للعديد من الحالات التي تحتاج الي التدخل السريع وللإسعافات الأولية كالإختناق والحروق والنزيف والأزمة القلبية و الإغماء وفقدان الوعي.
