“Career Pathway of Pharmacoeconomics and Market Access”

In line with the continuous efforts of the Faculty of Pharmacy to provide valuable insights, guidance, and resources to help its students navigate the complex world of careers and achieve their professional goals, the Pharmacy Career Counseling Committee, on December 19, 2022, hosted a session for senior students and alumni, titled “Career Pathway of Pharmacoeconomics and Market Access”. The session was presented by Dr. Islam Annan, founder, and CEO of Accsight. The lecture highlighted the importance of drug marketing and the great development in the science of Pharmacoeconomics and its impact on health decision-makers in the country.

Your Guide for Postgraduate Study in the USA

In line with the vision and mission of the Faculty of Pharmacy, which aims to prepare qualified pharmacists who can compete in various academic and professional fields, the Faculty of Pharmacy Career Development Committee organized a session for the junior and senior students and alumni.

The guest speaker was Asst. Prof. Dr. Islam Nabil, Assistant Dean of the College of Pharmacy at California North State University and Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical & Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Islam gave an overview of his scientific career and introduced the attendees to the difference between a Ph.D. and a Pharm D, degrees.

He also presented the field of clinical pharmacy and the most important requirements for obtaining a permit to practice the profession in the United States of America. Dr. Islam clarified the difference between achieving Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) Certification and obtaining a Pharm D degree, indicating the steps that must be followed to apply, whether for the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE), Pharm D, or Ph.D.

Career counseling session

In line with the mission of the Faculty of Pharmacy to equip its graduates with knowledge  and skills needed to become competent pharmacists, the faculty organized a career guidance seminar that was supported and endorsed by the Youth Leaders Foundation (YLF).

Safaa Hosni, Programs Manager at YLF, presented a talk to fourth- and fifth-year students. The discussion, entitled “Different directions, Super Pharmacist” introduced various careers available for pharmacists. Safaa highlighted the pros and cons of each career giving the future pharmacists a realistic picture of the Egyptian market.

Career Counseling session powered by UPharma

As part of the “Meet Pharma Entrepreneur” series, the Faculty of Pharmacy, MIU organized the third career counselling session entitled “Career Decisions”. The event was held on Wednesday, March 30, 2022. Prof. Ahmed Laila, Managing Director of El-Motahedon Pharma Company for the Manufacture of Medicines, and Medical Appliances (U Pharma), met with the senior students to discuss their professional paths and offer advice on industrial professions. He explained the advantages and disadvantages of this career path and addressed their concerns regarding the pharmaceutical sector in Egypt and abroad.

The What, Why and How in Career Decisions

In line with the Career Counseling Committee mission, Professor Sherief Khalifa gave an online session on the 19th of December, 2020, to pharmacy senior students, under the title “The What, Why and How in Career Decisions”. The session introduced the future pharmacists to possible career options and how they can choose the best pathway that suits their abilities. The presentation aimed at encouraging senior students to continue learning and take advantage of the digital world to engage with national, regional, and international organizations. Moreover, Prof. Khalifa encouraged the students to imply more effort, hence, improve their communication and soft skills to boost their reliabilities in the workplace.

Studying abroad session for faculty of Pharmacy students

Believing that studying abroad is a positive life changing experience for our students, opening their eyes to various personal and professional opportunities and promoting intercultural understanding and tolerance,the quality assurance unit “Faculty development & training committee” arranged a supportive session on October 18, 2017 for 5th year students conducted by Dr. Khaled Samir- Assistant Professor-Microbiology Department- Faculty of Pharmacy about the different scholarships available for Egyptian students and their requirements.
The aim of the session was to help students know when and how they should start applying for scholarships, how to prepare before applying for those scholarships and how to evaluate a study-abroad program.
Dr. Khaled Samir earned his Master’s & PhD degrees from the Graduate School of Bioresource & Bioenvironmental Sciences, Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japanthrough MEXT scholarship program offered by the Japanese government.
