MIU Pharmacy Leads National Dialogue on Competency-Based Education at the 9th AIPC 2025

The Faculty of Pharmacy at Misr International University played a significant role in the 9th Arab International Pharmacy Conference (AIPC 2025), which took place on May 10–11, 2025, at Concorde El Salam Hotel, Cairo, as a Strategic Partner alongside the Arab Association for Pharmacy Progress (AAPP).

Demonstrating its dedication to enhancing pharmacy education, MIU organized a panel discussion titled: “Towards Competency-Based Pharmacy Education and Assessment: Year 6 Internship and Licensure Exam Frameworks”. This session, held on Saturday, May 10th, in Adam Hall, gathered prominent academic leaders and regulatory stakeholders to explore the evolving dynamics of pharmacy education in Egypt. Key topics included the implementation of Year 6 experiential training and the National Licensure Exam, which are initiatives designed to improve the competency and preparedness of pharmacy graduates.

The Faculty of Pharmacy expresses its heartfelt thanks to Prof. Dr. Abdel Nasser Singab, Head of the Pharmacy Sector at the Supreme Council of Universities, along with the esteemed Deans of Pharmacy Faculties for their insightful contributions and recommendations during the discussion.

Renowned German Professor Dr. Michael Bacher Visits MIU

MIU welcomed esteemed German Professor Dr. Michael Bacher from Philipp University of Marburg’s Institute of Immunology, a leading figure in immunology research. From March 2nd to 13th, 2025, Dr. Bacher enriched our Pharm D students with advanced pharmacology and pharmacotherapy lectures, focusing on immunoinflammatory pathways in neurological and psychological diseases. His profound expertise and engaging delivery left a lasting positive impact. 

زيارة الدكتور مايكل باخر إلى جامعة مصر الدولية

استقبلت جامعة مصر الدولية الأستاذ الألماني المرموق الدكتور مايكل باخر من معهد علم المناعة بجامعة فيليب ماربورغ وهو شخصية رائدة في أبحاث علم المناعة. في الفترة من 2 إلى 13 مارس 2025 أثرى الدكتور باخر طلاب دكتور الصيدلة (Pharm D) بمحاضرات متقدمة في علم الأدوية والعلاج الدوائي مع التركيز على المسارات المناعية الالتهابية في الأمراض العصبية والنفسية.

Congratulations to the HIVE team from Misr International University

The student team HIVE has successfully qualified for the final stage of the Gen-Z University Challenge, the largest competition for innovative ideas, entrepreneurship and scientific research for Egyptian university students, which is broadcast on DMC channel. The team is competing for support of up to 2 million Egyptian pounds thanks to their innovative project that aims to revolutionize the field of local manufacturing by connecting factories with companies that need manufacturing services.

Mohamed Ashraf, a student at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Misr International University and the CEO of the team, explained their vision, saying: “Our project aims to bring together all factories in Egypt on a single platform that acts as a link between factories and companies wishing to manufacture locally. We need one million Egyptian pounds to support this project, which facilitates the production process and makes it more efficient.”

Thanks to their efforts, the HIVE team was able to contract with many factories, major brands and shipping companies in Egypt, and gained 950,000 Egyptian pounds in just five months. During the competition, the team received amazing support of 1.4 million Egyptian pounds, in addition to technical support and a partnership with Microsoft Egypt.

Misr International University is proud of the achievement of the HIVE team and wishes them success in the final stage of the competition. Let us all support them and celebrate this great achievement.

تهانينا لفريق HIVE من جامعة مصر الدولية

نجح الفريق الطلابي HIVE في التأهل للمرحلة النهائية من تحدي Gen-Z للجامعات، أكبر مسابقة للأفكار الابتكارية وريادة الأعمال والبحث العلمي لطلاب الجامعات المصرية والتي تُبث عبر قناة DMC. يتنافس الفريق على دعم يصل إلى 2 مليون جنيه مصري بفضل مشروعهم المبتكر الذي يهدف إلى إحداث نقلة نوعية في مجال التصنيع المحلي من خلال ربط المصانع بالشركات التي تحتاج إلى خدمات التصنيع.
محمد أشرف الطالب بكلية الصيدلة بجامعة مصر الدولية والرئيس التنفيذي للفريق أوضح رؤيتهم قائلاً: “يهدف مشروعنا إلى جمع جميع المصانع في مصر على منصة واحدة تعمل كحلقة وصل بين المصانع والشركات الراغبة في التصنيع المحلي. نحن بحاجة إلى مليون جنيه مصري لدعم هذا المشروع الذي يسهل عملية الإنتاج ويجعلها أكثر كفاءة.”
تمكن فريق HIVE من التعاقد مع عدد كبير من المصانع والعلامات التجارية الكبرى وشركات الشحن في مصر وحصلوا على 950,000 جنيه مصري في خمسة أشهر فقط. وخلال المسابقة حصل الفريق على دعم مذهل بقيمة 1.4 مليون جنيه مصري بالإضافة إلى دعم تقني وشراكة مع ميكروسوفت مصر.

MIU’s Cosmeceutical Exhibition Showcases Innovation and Talent

On February 24, 2025, the Faculty of Pharmacy’s Continuing Education Committee in collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Technology Department hosted the second cosmeceutical Exhibition. The exhibition showcased the creations of 40 talented participants from the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the Advanced Cosmeceutical Workshop.

Participants presented their products, ranging from rejuvenating body lotions and whitening serums to nourishing hair masks and moisturizing urea creams. They also shared the story behind their creations with industry experts, Dr. Mohamed El Enany, CEO of Multicosmo Pharma and Dr. Mahmoud El Sonbaty, Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Training and Development Consultant who offered valuable insights and feedback.

معرض مستحضرات التجميل بكلية الصيدلة بجامعة مصر الدولية يستعرض الإبداع والابتكار

في 24 فبراير 2025 نظمت لجنة التعليم المستمر بكلية الصيدلة بالتعاون مع قسم التكنولوجيا الصيدلانية ثاني معارضها المبتكرة لمستحضرات التجميل.
استعرض المعرض الإبداعات الرائعة لـ40 مشارك من الدورتين الثانية والثالثة لورشة العمل المتقدمة لمستحضرات التجميل.
قام المشاركون بعرض منتجاتهم المميزة التي شملت لوشن الجسم وأقنعة الشعر المغذية وكريمات اليوريا المرطبة.
وقدم الخبيران الدكتور محمد العناني، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة Multicosmo Pharma والدكتور محمود السنباطي، أستاذ مساعد في الصيدلانيات ومستشار تدريب وتطوير الصيدلة رؤى قيّمة وملاحظات مفيدة للمشاركين.

MIU at the 8th Regional Pharmacy Faculty Development Workshop

The Faculty of Pharmacy at Misr International University was proud to participate in the 8th Regional Pharmacy Faculty Development Workshop, held on January 10-11, 2025, and co-organized by Dubai Medical University, in collaboration with the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP).

This remarkable event brought together pharmacy education leaders from across the region, offering a platform to explore innovative strategies and share experiences that enhance pharmacy education. The workshop addressed critical topics such as:

  • Advancing Experiential Education and Preceptor Development
  • Competency-Based Assessment and Skill Development
  • The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Shaping Pharmacy Education

Representatives from the Faculty of Pharmacy at MIU exchanged insights and collaborated with deans and Faculty from diverse institutions including peers from Egypt and multiple countries across the region.

This participation reflects MIU’s commitment to fostering staff development and global engagement. We extend our gratitude to Dubai Medical University for hosting this impactful event and for creating an environment that encourages growth, collaboration and the sharing of best practices.

جامعة مصر الدولية في ورشة العمل الإقليمية الثامنة لتطوير قدرات أعضاء هيئة التدريس في الصيدلة

تفخر كلية الصيدلة بجامعة مصر الدولية بالمشاركة في ورشة العمل الإقليمية الثامنة لتطوير أعضاء هيئة التدريس الصيدلاني التي عقدت في الفترة من 10 إلى 11 يناير 2025 وشاركت في تنظيمها جامعة دبي الطبية بالتعاون مع مجلس اعتماد التعليم الصيدلي (ACPE) والجمعية الأمريكية لكليات الصيدلة (AACP).
وجمع هذا الحدث الرائع قادة التعليم الصيدلي من جميع أنحاء المنطقة مما وفر منصة لاستكشاف الاستراتيجيات المبتكرة وتبادل الخبرات التي تعزز التعليم الصيدلي. تناولت ورشة العمل موضوعات مهمة مثل:

Twelve Years of Success: MIU Pharmacy Students Win Awards at Dubai International Pharmaceutical Conference (DUPHAT’25)

The Faculty of Pharmacy at MIU proudly celebrates another remarkable achievement at the 30th Dubai International Pharmaceutical and Technologies Conference and Exhibition – DUPHAT (DUPHAT’25), held from January 9th to January 11th at the World Trade Centre in Dubai. 14 Pharmacy students from the Analytical Chemistry and Clinical Pharmacy Practice Departments attended the conference. 

The Fifth Best Structured Pharmacy Poster Award at this year’s conference went to MIU Pharmacy students Ahmed Tarek, Zeina Amin, Paula Wassim, Nadine Saeid, Sandra Hani and Hana Islam, supervised by Dr. Rasha Mahmoud and TA Tasnim Tarek, for their research “Greenness Profile and Whiteness Assessment of Chromatographic Method for the Assay of Caffeine and Some Artificial Sweeteners in Commercial Energy Drinks”. This marks the twelfth consecutive year of MIU student success at the conference and highlights the university’s commitment to academic and research excellence. The Faculty of Pharmacy extends its sincere congratulations to its students and their supervisors, anticipating continued success in the years to come.

Exploring AI’s Strategic Role in Advancing Pharmacy Research and Education

The future of research and education was the focus of a workshop titled “The Strategic Role of Artificial Intelligence in Modern Research & Academia,” held on November 13, 2024. Hosted by the Faculty of Pharmacy Development, Awareness & Training Committee, the workshop brought together staff and teaching assistants to explore the transformative power of AI. Led by Dr. Alzahraa ElMowafi, a renowned physician and researcher from the National Research Centre in Egypt with over 20 years of experience, the session explored how AI can enhance research methodologies and improve the learning experience while maintaining the ethical considerations in its application.

استكشاف الدور الاستراتيجي للذكاء الاصطناعي في تطوير البحث والتعليم

نظمت لجنة تطوير الوعي والتدريب بكلية الصيدلة ورشة عمل بعنوان “الدور الاستراتيجي للذكاء الاصطناعي في البحث والتعليم” يوم الأربعاء الموافق 13 نوفمبر 2024.
قادت الورشة الدكتورة الزهراء الموفّقي، الطبيبة والباحثة البارزة من المركز القومي للبحوث في مصر والتي لديها خبرة تزيد عن 20 عامًا في طب الأطفال وحديثي الولادة وطب الرضاعة.
ناقش المشاركون خلال الورشة الطرق المبتكرة التي يمكن من خلالها توظيف الذكاء الاصطناعي لتعزيز البحث وتحسين تجربة التعلم. كما تناولت الورشة الجوانب الأخلاقية لتطبيق الذكاء الاصطناعي في المجال الأكاديمي.

MIU Pharmacy Students Promote Handwashing in El Mashadey Village

On November 14, 2024, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Misr International University organized a community service initiative in El Mashadey Village, El Sharqia Governorate. The aim was to raise awareness about the importance of proper handwashing to foster a healthier community.

In collaboration with the Governorate’s Population Unit and the Regional Authority for Tourism Promotion, faculty members and 12 pharmacy students from various academic years conducted an interactive awareness session for primary school students. The session highlighted the significance of handwashing techniques, using vibrant visual aids and engaging storytelling with handmade puppets.

This initiative reflects the Faculty of Pharmacy’s commitment to social responsibility and experiential learning.

حملة توعية بأهمية غسل اليدين في قرية المشادي

نظمت كلية الصيدلة بجامعة مصر الدولية في 14 نوفمبر 2024 مبادرة خدمة مجتمعية بقرية المشادي بمحافظة الشرقية. وكان الهدف هو رفع مستوى الوعي حول أهمية غسل اليدين بشكل صحيح لتعزيز مجتمع أكثر صحة.
بالتعاون مع وحدة السكان بالمحافظة والهيئة الإقليمية لترويج السياحة أجرى أعضاء هيئة التدريس و12 طالب من مختلف السنوات الأكاديمية بكلية الصيدلة جلسة توعوية تفاعلية لطلاب المرحلة الابتدائية. سلطت الجلسة الضوء على أهمية تقنيات غسل اليدين باستخدام لوحات توضيحية ملونة ودمى مصنوعة يدويًا.
تعكس هذه المبادرة التزام كلية الصيدلة بالمسؤولية الاجتماعية والتعلم التجريبي.

MIU Faculty of Pharmacy’s Significant Contribution to Africa Health ExCon

The Faculty of Pharmacy at MIU, in collaboration with the African Healthcare & Drug Association, is proud to announce its contribution to Africa Health ExCon, held from 3-6 June at the Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC).  

Associate Professor Dr. Lobna Hatem represented the faculty in a distinguished panel discussion addressing the future of employability in the healthcare sector in Africa. By 2030, roughly 230 million jobs in Africa will demand digital skills. Education and training programs must shift to meet these future employability needs and nurture creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Accordingly, the session focused on enhancing skills and knowledge by investing in education, training, development, and capacity building in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry across Africa.

شاركت الدكتورة لبنى حاتم، في جلسة نقاشية متميزة ركزت على مستقبل التوظيف في إفريقيا. بحلول عام 2030، ستتطلب ما يقرب من 230 مليون وظيفة في إفريقيا مهارات رقمية، مما يبرز الحاجة الملحة لبرامج التعليم والتدريب التي تركز على الإبداع والتفكير النقدي وحل المشكلات. سلطت الجلسة الضوء على أهمية الاستثمار في التعليم والتدريب والتطوير وبناء القدرات في مجال الرعاية الصحية وصناعة الأدوية في جميع أنحاء القارة.
