The 16th annual Scientific Day

The 16th annual Scientific Day was held on 28th of September 2022 by the Internship Administration to give all the interns that have completed their 12 months of training the chance to present their cases. The forum was held at the Internship Administration and attended by the Dean and the Vice Dean of Community and Environmental Affairs in addition to staff members, teaching assistants from all faculty departments and the interns.

The day started with a motivational speech from the Dean to the interns, and then followed by 18 interesting presentations by the interns on the comprehensive and pedodontics cases they treated. All interns were granted participation certificates. Tutors also received appreciation certificates for their exceptional efforts.

Comprehensive Care Program

An internship comprehensive program that adopts modern teaching methods and quality standards was organized for interns. The training covered various dental specialties and lasted for 3 months from August till October 2021.
A total number of 300 interns registered for the program and each intern was assigned a tutor and a co tutor to help supervise their cases. The participating interns were required to make a portfolio of patient contacts and of the all the steps involved in their cases. The portfolio is updated weekly by each intern and uploaded on Moodle. The interns were also requested to document their cases in writing and by taking photos that display the treatment stages. They were also granted the opportunity to attend a lecture titled “Composite Restoration, Veneering Solutions” by Prof. Kosmos Tolidis and, another lecture about Laser Dentistry by Dr. Stefan Schrieber in August 2021. Interns also attended the Egy Dental Conference in September 2021 and 40 interns were given free registration for the 5th international Dental Congress in October 2021.
The Internship Administration is keen on helping educate and develop interns to make them market ready by exposing them to all tranches of the market and the dental society

Internship Comprehensive Program

In an attempt to consolidate interns’ theoretical knowledge and practical skills, the Internship Administration at MIU offered a two-month internship comprehensive program from January 1 until the end of February 2022.

A total of 199 interns participated in the program which was based on modern teaching methods. Each intern was assigned a tutor and a co-tutor to help supervise their cases. Interns were required to compile portfolios of the patients’ contacts and all steps of the cases. The portfolio is updated weekly by the interns and uploaded on Moodle. Interns were also requested to document their cases both in writing and by taking photos of the treatment stages.

The interns have been given the opportunity to attend lectures on weekly basis to help develop their practical skills and apply them in the clinics under the supervision of staff members. Interns have been freed once a week to either attend a workshop or participate in a community service activity.

Internship Comprehensive Program

The 15th annual scientific day was held on 31 October 2021 by the Internship Administration to give all the interns that have completed their 12 months of training the chance to present their cases. The forum was held at the Internship Administration and attended by the Vice Dean of Community and Environmental Affairs in addition to staff members and teaching assistants from all faculty departments. 

Thirty-six presentations were given which summarized all the cases treated by the interns throughout their training year. A zoom link was provided to all interns who were not participating in the event to help maintain the optimum social distance and still grant other interns the opportunity to attend. Each presentation was followed by a Q&A session to allow  further interactions with the presenters.  All participants were granted recognition certificates for their exceptional efforts.
