في إطار حرص إدارة التدريب على تطوير مهارات أطباء و طبيبات الامتياز وتأهيلهم للمنافسة في سوق العمل وأن يكونوا على دراية بكافة جوانب طب الأسنان تم عقد ورشة عمل بالكلية بعنوان “تصوير الأسنان” لـ59 من أطباء و طبيبات الامتياز فى 5 و6 و 7 من ديسمبر 2023.

وتناولت ورشة العمل موضوعات مختلفة مثل أهمية ومعايير تصوير الأسنان وتأثير مصدر الضوء على الصور والزوايا في تصوير الأسنان والأخطاء الشائعة في الصور وتلقوا نصائح حول التصوير الفوتوغرافي المتنقل للأسنان، وقام أطباء الامتياز بالتدرب عمليًا على التصوير الفوتوغرافي للأسنان داخل الفم.

وتم إرسال استبيان لأطباء الامتياز لمعرفة رأيهم في ورشة العمل وقياس مدى الرضا عنها.

On the 3rd of December, the Internship Administration organized a workshop in MIU titled “Laser Therapy in Dentistry “for the 59 interns. The workshop was given by staff members of The Dental Laser Center: Dr. Youssef Sedky, Dr. Mohamed Bahgat, Dr. Passant Bahaaeldin, and Dr. Amir Ezzat in the Internship Seminar room. The workshop was followed by a laboratory hands-on session.

The workshop covered all aspects regarding laser in dentistry, different laser wavelengths, indications of using laser in different dental treatments, the laser machine and its components, laser tissue interactions, and laser physics.

The attendees had the opportunity to clinically apply all the steps by different laser wavelengths.

A Questionnaire was sent to the interns to know their feedback and satisfaction rate.

نظمت إدارة تدريب أطباء الامتياز يوم 3 ديسمبر ورشة عمل داخل الجامعة لعدد 59 من أطباء و طبيبات الامتياز بعنوان “العلاج بالليزر في طب الأسنان” حاضر بها عدد من أعضاء هيئة التدريس بمركز ليزر الأسنان وهم د.يوسف صدقي ود. محمد بهجت ود. بسنت بهاء الدين ود. أمير عزت وذلك في قاعة ندوات إدارة الامتياز بالجامعة. بعد ورشة العمل حصل أطباء الامتياز على جلسة تدريب عملي في المعمل.

تناولت ورشة العمل كافة الجوانب المتعلقة بالليزر في طب الأسنان والتي تشمل الأطوال الموجية المختلفة لليزر ومؤشرات استخدام الليزر في علاجات الأسنان المختلفة وجهاز الليزر ومكوناته وتفاعلات أنسجة الليزر وفيزياء الليزر.

أتيحت الفرصة لجميع الحضور لتطبيق كافة الخطوات عمليًا بواسطة أطوال موجية مختلفة من الليزر.

وتم إرسال استبيان لأطباء الامتياز لمعرفة رأيهم في ورشة العمل و قياس مدى الرضا عنها.

For the second year in a row, MIU was chosen to compete in the 2023 International Interprofessional Case Competition (I2C2) hosted by Gulf Medical University, UAE. MIU has selected four students from the medical sector, including two from the Faculty of Pharmacy and two from the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine.

The Interprofessional Case Competition (I2C2) is an annual multi-institutional event where students from different health specialties work together virtually in small teams with learners from various institutions, and countries to compete in solving complex clinical cases.

Misr International University is keen on educating and developing students to qualify them to compete in the global job market and to deal with all healthcare professions in addition to presenting real interprofessional medical service.

A comprehensive interdisciplinary program was organized for interns to gain hands-on experience across various dental specialties from July to September 2023.

At the beginning of the program, each intern was assigned a tutor and received two comprehensive cases by the Oral Medicine Department. The interns were required to develop a treatment plan which was revised and tracked by the assigned tutor. The progress of each case was consistently uploaded on Moodle.

The interns actively participated in two workshops during this period. The first focused on “Dental Implant Insertion,” while the second, led by Dr. Basma Kamal, focused on “Acquiring the Medical Edge in Comprehensive Practice.”

The Internship Administration is keen on preparing interns for the job market by allowing them exposure to the broader dental community.

An exceptional 17th annual Scientific Day was organized on the 25th of September 2023 by the Internship Administrative team at the Main Building, OOA Hall. The day highlighted the extraordinary work accomplished by the interns during their training program. The event was attended by the Dean, the Vice Dean of Community and Environmental Affairs in addition to the Head of the Departments and Staff Members of the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine.

The event started with a motivational address by the Dean. Following this, Assistant Professor Ahmed El Sergani, an esteemed alumnus of MIU and a member of the Department of Oral & Craniofacial Sciences at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Pittsburgh, delivered an insightful speech, sharing his invaluable experiences.

The interns gave detailed presentations on their comprehensive work during their training months at Misr International University, including the pedodontics cases they worked on. A distinguished panel of judges, comprised of esteemed faculty members, evaluated the presentations, and awarded a trophy to the best presentation. All participating interns received certificates of participation.

During the Fall 2022-2023 semester, the Internship Administration offered the interns an esthetic rehabilitation course under the supervision of the staff members and TAs.  By the end of this course, the participants will be able to:

• Diagnose and develop a treatment plan using various diagnostic aids (CBCT, clinical photography, and digital models). 
• Perform the appropriate esthetic treatment options for the proposed cases efficiently. 
• Consider all options available to treat a given case.  
• Identify the techniques related to all-ceramics technology, design, milling and cementation. 
• Utilize laser technology in appropriate cases. 
• Document cases professionally.
• Work in a team.
• Discuss and present all clinical procedures.

 By the end of the academic year, the participants received certificates of achievements from the Vice Dean of Community Service and Environmental Affairs, the Head of the Internship Administration and the course instructors in the presence of staff members, teaching assistants from all faculty departments and the interns.

The final examination for the fifth batch of the “International Dental Implant Continuing Dental Education Program” was held on the 24th and 25th of July 2023.  The examination committee, representing the prestigious German Dental Implant Society (DGI), attended as part of a collaborative venture aimed at enhancing dental implant training.

The committee praised the scientific level of the students as well as the clinical level of the cases they completed during the training program, also the quality of documentation of the cases and documents related to the program.

The committee praised the remarkable scientific and clinical competence demonstrated by the students throughout the program. They particularly commended the high-quality documentation of cases and program-related documents.

The graduation ceremony was held on the university campus, attended by distinguished individuals. These included the esteemed Faculty Dean, Prof. Hossam Tawfik, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Affairs, Prof. Eman El-Taftazany, Director of the scientific program, Dr. Ahmed Abou El-Fotouh, and the delegation from the German Dental Implant Society, led by Prof. Dr. Dr. Belal El-Nawas. This momentous occasion was made even more special with the participation of all 24 graduating students and their proud parents.

At the end of the ceremony, the students received their well-earned certificates of program completion, marking the beginning of their journey towards successful careers.

To enhance the knowledge and skills of the dental interns, the Faculty of Oral & Dental Medicine offered a structured module program from January 1st, 2023, until the end of February 2023.

The interns had the chance to practice two disciplines under the supervision of experienced staff members. They were tasked with documenting each patient’s portfolio and uploading it on Moodle.

Furthermore, they had the chance to attend a lecture titled “Evidence of Implantology” delivered by Prof. Bilal Al Nawas, Chairman of the Clinic of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University Medical Center of J. Gutenberg University Mainz. They also attended a workshop on “Laser Therapy in Dentistry” conducted by Dr. Youssef Sedki, as well as a Fixed Prosthodontics workshop focusing on “Recent Ceramics and Indirect Esthetic Restoration.”

MIU Faculty of Dental and Oral Medicine had the privilege to be elected to contribute in the second International Interprofessional Case Competition (I2C2) organized by Virginia Commonwealth University.

Our valued interns Youssef Atef and Dina Bazaraa from the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine along with two students from Faculty of Pharmacy were selected to represent the medical sector of Misr International University at the competition as part of the different teams formed of diverse professions from esteemed universities around the world.

 They virtually joined the teams and collaborated inter-professionally to solve complex clinical cases and finally presented their clinical work along with their team mates to the juries to select the competition front-runners.

MIU is pleased to announce that Youssef Atef’s team was chosen to be the winning team for International Interprofessional Case Competition.

On Monday 05/12/2022 a celebration was held and attended by the Dean. The Vice Dean of Community and Environmental Affairs in addition to staff members. Youssef and Dina were granted Certificates of Appreciation and a trophy for the winner.
