Misr International University is always eager to participate in significant conferences. Accordingly, Instructor Rasha Salah from MIU’s English Language program participated in the 6th Global Conferences on Health, Storytelling, Illness and Medicine.
Salah presented a paper at the conference entitled “Taming Age: The invisible illness.” The event was held from March 14 to 16, 2016 in Budapest, Hungary and aimed at creating and encouraging dialogue between different generations and cultures.

Dr. Hira Shafiq, Pharm D, BCPS is visiting the Faculty of Pharmacy, MIU, from April 6th to April19th, 2019. During her visit, Dr Shafiq will give lectures to 4th year pharmacy students on cardiovascular diseases and their proper pharmacotherapeutic approaches. In addition, she will highlight the role of clinical pharmacy in the ambulatory care setting, as well as the advances in cardiovascular medications.
Professor Michael S. Maddux, PharmD, FCCP, ACCP Executive Director
Misr International University has invited Professor Dr. Michael S. Maddux, the Executive Director of The American College of Clinical Pharmacy, as part of a cooperative development effort between the two institutions.
Professor Maddux will be working with MIU on developing the current pharmacy program to match that of top American universities and to give MIU graduates the opportunity to accomplish the US Pharm. D./Masters.
By finalizing the memorandum of understanding between MIU and The American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), both sides agreed on the necessary introduction of a “Bridging Program” into the new Pharm.D./Masters program.

MIU Faculty of Pharmacy is honored to have Prof. Dr. Naser Z. Alsharif, Pharm.D., Ph.D. Professor of Pharmacy Sciences as a visiting professor from February 26- March 11, 2016. During this period, Dr Alsharif will teach the third year pharmacy students the Structure Activity Relationship of antipsychotic and antidepressant drugs. He will also hold several seminars for TA development on the following topics: “The Role of the Pharmacist in Ambulatory Care” and “The Principles of toxicology in Chemical Research.” Moreover, he will hold two faculty development meetings with the Department of Medicinal Chemistry where he will discuss the SAR of antihistamines and NSAIDS. To the curriculum development committee he will present on “Integration of the Basic Science in the Curriculum” and new topics delivery.
Architecture department collaborates with Lucerne University for Applied Sciences
Misr International University’s International Office invited Professor Luca Deon from Lucerne University for Applied Sciences, Switzerland, to review the work of the 5th year graduation design studio.
Professor Deon was invited to review students’ work as part of MIU’s continuing efforts to ensure international standards of education. The students’ projects were focused on designing a wellness center in a park overlooking Cairo Tower and the challenge was to build a strong recreational space while providing the sense of privacy and identity for the patients.
Professor Deon’s impression after reviewing the projects was that MIU students are interested and curious to know more about architecture and that they have a good vision which will aid them in their education.

Prof. Rowena Schwartz, Pharm D, BCOP visited the Faculty of Pharmacy, MIU, from February 24th to March 3rd, 2020. During her visit, Prof Schwartz gave lectures to 5th year pharmacy students on oncologic diseases and their proper pharmacotherapeutic approaches. In addition, She also discussed the supportive care required for cancer patients.
Prof. Phani Tej Adidam Visit
Between February 14th and February 21st 2020, Prof. Phani Tej Adidam visited the Faculty of Business Administration and International Trade. Professor Adidam is “Executive Management Education” Professor and the Chairman of the Marketing and Management department, University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), USA. His research focuses on Brand Management, Competitive Intelligence, Consumption Experiences and Decision Making.
Prof. Adidam’s work is published in the top marketing publications such as Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Management, and Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice.
During his visit, Prof. Adidam gave lectures in three marketing-major classes: Marketing Research, Marketing Strategy and Special Topics in Marketing. He enriched the classes with his wide range of industry and academic expertise. The sessions were of extreme academic benefit for the students.
The 2018 7th ANNUAL NYUAD HACKATHON FOR SOCIAL GOOD IN THE ARAB WORLD
CSC Senior Student Rowan Omar wins First place in “The 2018 7th ANNUAL NYUAD HACKATHON FOR SOCIAL GOOD IN THE ARAB WORLD” along with her team.
NYUAD Hackathon started on April 26, 2018 and was held at New York University Abu Dhabi, UAE. Participants were divided into 10 teams and mentored by renowned international computer science professors, founders of successful startups and technology professionals.
The project ,“Dawa دواء “ is about tackling counterfeiting drugs in the region using blockchain based pharmaceutical distribution.
The project was designed by a team of eight students including Rowan Omar (Misr International University, Egypt), Brian Shin (NYUAD, UAE), Nadjmeddine Boudjellal (M’sila university, Algeria), Ali Elabridi (Al Akhawayn University, Morocco), Priya Aswani (University of Wollongong In Dubai, UAE), Simon Seo (NYUAD, UAE), Rewant Verma (BITS Pilani Dubai Campus, UAE) and Abdullah Zameek (NYUAD, UAE) and mentored by Saif ur Rehman Cloud Developer Advocate IBM, UAE; Saeed Motamed Technology Solution Professional Microsoft,UAE; Naiyarah Hussain IBM Cloud Developer Experience Team Lead, UAE.
MIU-SMS Welcomes International Students from Heilbronn University
Misr International University’s Stock Market Simulation and International Office invited international students from Heilbronn University in Germany to visit MIU Campus and attend a mini stock market simulation event on December 14.
The SMS event aimed to give the students the opportunity to understand the basics of the stock market, as well as interact with MIU students in the virtual simulation game.
MIU-SMS is a student activity club that helps students learn the basics of the stock market and experience the trading process.
Three international students were awarded with “Best Investor” trophies at the end of the sessions, while all the students were granted certificates of completing the SMS sessions.
Professor Winfred Harzer
Professor Harzer gave two workshops, each running two days, titled ‘Straight Wiring Technique.’ The workshops set the foundation for clinical orthodontics, helping students achieve a professional clinical level of excellence.
In addition to the workshops, Prof. Harzer conducted a lecture to most of the staff members and teaching assistants including the Dean and Vice Dean for Students Affair as part of a staff development program titled ‘Problem-Based Learning as a Teaching Methodology.’
The Vice Dean conducted a 15 minute presentation for the audience, including Prof Harzer, explaining the PBL experience at MIU.
