Assistant Professor Ahmed El Sergani was invited by the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine to deliver two lectures on staff development, on Wednesday the 20th of September 2023.

The titles of the lectures were “Testing: The Chicken or Egg in Education” and “The Illusions of Knowledge”.

El Sergani graduated with high honors from MIU Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine in 2012. He is certified by the Arab Board of Health Specializations in oral & maxillofacial surgery, and he is awarded the Membership in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MOMS RCSEd). Additionally, El Sergani completed advanced clinical training and earned a PhD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine within the Department of Oral & Craniofacial Sciences.

The lectures were attended by 14 MIU staff members, who expressed an overall satisfaction rate of 89%.

The Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine organized a Workshop entitled “Assessment of Competencies” on the 13^th of September 2023. The workshop was conducted by Prof. Dr. Hossam Tewfik, Prof. Dr. Nehad Samir and Prof. Dr. Marwa Moqbel. The workshop discussed methods of developing rubrics, question banks well as exam items analysis. The workshop was attended by 62 staff members and 13 teaching assistants. The overall rating of the instructors was 90% while the rating of the workshop was 88.4%.

Department of Removable Prosthodontics arranged multiple seminars through Spring 2021 semester. With the help of staff members, the seminar ran on a weekly basis for presenting clinical cases of implant placement that the department’s teaching assistants worked on in MIU DCC. 

These were followed by case discussions with the support and guidance of staff members.

The Faculty of Oral & Dental Medicine arranged lectures and workshops to train the faculty members on examination and assessment methods.
