Strategic Partnership Between Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine and Operation Smile Institution in Community Service and Environmental Development

The Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, Misr International University, is honored to announce the signing of a strategic partnership agreement with Operation Smile Institution. This took place on November 24, 2024.

Operation Smile Institution is a recognized international, non-profit institution, established in 1982. The Institution aims to expand access to medical care through training and educational programs, providing free, life-changing cleft lip surgeries and comprehensive care.

Through this partnership, the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine will contribute to various community service and environmental development activities. This includes the participation of students and graduates in offering community services, providing support to children and families in need, and promoting work in the fields of scientific research and training.

This collaboration aims to further expand the impact of these vital services and offer a pathway for students, and staff members to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these children.

شراكة إستراتيجية بين كلية طب الفم والأسنان ومنظمة أوبيريشن سمايل في خدمة المجتمع وتنمية البيئة

تتشرف كلية طب الفم والأسنان، جامعة مصر الدولية بعقد إتفاقية شراكة إستراتيجية مع منظمة أوبيريشن سمايل يوم 24 نوفمبر 2024.

جدير بالذكر أن منظمة أوبيريشن سمايل هي منظمة دولية، غير ربحية، معتمدة، منذ عام 1982. تهدف المنظمة إلى توسيع نطاق الوصول إلى الرعاية الطبية من خلال البرامج التدريبية والتعليمية، وتقديم جراحات الشفة الأرنبية المجانية التي تغير الحياة والرعاية الشاملة.

من خلال هذه الشراكة، ستساهم كليه طب الفم والأسنان بمختلف النشاطات الخاصة بخدمة المجتمع وتنمية البيئة. تشمل هذه الشراكة مشاركة الطلاب والخريجين فى تقديم الخدمات المجتمعية وتقديم الدعم للأطفال والعائلات الأكثر إحتياجا وكذلك تعزيز العمل في مجالات البحث العلمى والتدريب.

تهدف هذه الشراكة إلى زيادة توسيع تأثيرهذه الخدمات الحيوية وتوفير مسار للطلاب وأعضاء هيئة التدريس لإحداث تطور ملموس في حياة هؤلاء الأطفال.

Reviewing Course Files According to the International Accreditation Standards

The Quality Assurance Unit at Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine organized a workshop entitled “‏Reviewing Course Files According to the International Accreditation Standards “on Sunday, November 17, 2024.

The workshop was presented by Prof. Dr.Marwa Mokbal – Head of Internal Audit Committee and Prof. Dr. Hanaa Gamal – Executive Director, Quality Assurance Unit.

The workshop was attended by 10 members of the Internal Audit Committee of the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine.

The trainees’ satisfaction with the workshop was 98%.

تقويم ملفات المقررات وفقًا لمتطلبات الاعتماد الدولى

نظمت وحدة ضمان الجودة بكلية طب الفم والأسنان ورشة عمل بعنوان ” تقويم ملفات المقررات وفقًا لمتطلبات الاعتماد الدولى” وذلك في يوم الأحد السابع عشر من نوفمبر 2024.

قام بتقديم ورشة العمل الأستاذ الدكتور/ مروة مقبل – رئيس لجنة المراجعة الداخلية ، الأستاذ الدكتور / هناء جمال – المدير التنفيذى لوحدة ضمان الجودة بالكلية.

حضر ورشة العمل عدد (10) من أعضاء لجنة المراجعة الداخلية بكلية طب الفم والأسنان.

وبلغت نسبة رضا المتدربين عن ورشة العمل 98 %.

Steps and Strategies for Academic Excellence: Toward Achieving International Accreditation

The Quality Assurance Unit, Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, organized a workshop entitled “Steps and Strategies for Academic Excellence: Toward Achieving International Accreditation “on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

The workshop was presented by Prof. Dr. Hana’ Gamal – CEO of Quality Assurance Unit Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine.

This workshop is considered part of a series of workshops in preparation for international accreditation. The workshop was attended by18 staff members.

The trainees’ satisfaction with the workshop was 93 %.

نظمت وحدة ضمان الجودة بكلية طب الفم والأسنان ورشة عمل بعنوان ” إعداد‎ الكلية للاعتماد الدولي: خطوات واستراتيجيات نحو التميز الأكاديمي “وذلك في يوم الاربعاء السابع والعشرون من ديسمبر 2023 .

وتعتبر هذه الورشة ضمن سلسلة ورش عمل الإعداد للاعتماد الدولي. قام بتقديم ورشة العمل الأستاذ الدكتور/ هناء جمال – المدير التنفيذي لوحدة ضمان الجودة.

حضر ورشة العمل عدد (18) من أعضاء هيئة التدريس بكلية طب الفم والأسنان.

The workshop was presented by Prof. Dr. Hana’ Gamal – CEO of Quality Assurance Unit Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine. This workshop is considered part of a series of workshops on preparation for international accreditation. The workshop was attended by 9 staff members and teaching assistants.

The trainees’ satisfaction with the workshop was 95 %.

نظمت وحدة ضمان الجودة بكلية طب الفم والأسنان ورشة عمل بعنوان ” مناقشة اللائحة الجديدة لبرنامج البكالوريوس : رؤى واقتراحات ” وذلك في يوم الأحد الرابع والعشرون من سبتمبر 2023.

وتعتبر هده الورشة ضمن سلسلة ورش عمل الإعداد للاعتماد الدولي .قام بتقديم ورشة العمل الأستاذ الدكتور/ هناء جمال.

حضر ورشة العمل عدد (9) من أعضاء هيئة التدريس والهيئة المعاونة بكلية طب الفم والأسنان.

The Quality Assurance Unit at Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine organized a workshop entitled “Teaching, Learning, and Assessment Strategies: Towards Enhancing Academic Effectiveness.”.

The workshop, which took place on Thursday, October 13, 2022, was presented by Prof. Dr. Dina Elkasas – Head of Program Committee of Quality Assurance Unit, Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine.

The workshop was attended by 18 staff members and teaching assistants.

The trainees’ satisfaction with the workshop was 94%.

التدريس والتعلم والتقييم: نحو تحسين فعالية التعليم الأكاديمي

نظمت وحدة ضمان الجودة بكلية طب الفم والأسنان ورشة عمل بعنوان ” التدريس والتعلم والتقييم: نحو تحسين فعالية التعليم الأكاديمي ” وذلك في يوم الخميس الثالث عشر من أكتوبر2022.

قام بتقديم ورشة العمل الأستاذ الدكتور/ دينا القصاص – رئيس لجنة البرامج التعليمية بوحدة ضمان الجودة.

حضر ورشة العمل عدد (18) من أعضاء هيئة التدريس والهيئة المعاونة بكلية طب الفم والأسنان.

بلغت نسبة رضا المتدربين عن ورشة العمل 94%.

Celebrating Innovation: Highlights from the 18th Annual Scientific Day

The 18th Annual Scientific Day, organized by the Internship Administration, was held September 30th, 2024, at the Main Building’s OOA Hall. The event showcased the outstanding work of interns during their training program as well as promoted collaboration and innovation within the academic community.

Key figures such as the Dean, the Vice Dean of Community and Environmental Affairs, and the Heads of Departments, along with faculty members from the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine attended the event. The whole batch of 319 were also present.

The event started with a motivational message from the Dean of the faculty, followed by an appreciation speech from the Vice Dean of Community and Environmental Affairs to the dedicated efforts of the Heads of Departments, scientific coordinators, community service coordinators, and university administrative management.

Mohamed Moula, one of Misr International University’s 2020 interns, gave a speech conveying to the interns of how pleased he is to get back to continue his internship year after giving up on dentistry 4 years ago.

The internship co-director highlighted the dedication and collaborative efforts of both the staff and the interns across the fall, winter, spring, and summer batches. The staff’s recognition included appreciation of the tutors’ dedication throughout the program, by offering their mentorship and support to the interns. One of the interns’ achievements recognized was the participation of two of our talented interns, Veronica Medhat (intern year 2022) and Hana Wael (intern year 2023) in the prestigious Interdisciplinary Interprofessional Case Competition.

Several sessions, focused on market and scientific research were organized. A pediatric dentistry cases session offered insights into current practices and a live surgery session provided a rare opportunity for attendees to observe real-time procedures.

At the end of the scientific day, a survey to assess attendee’s feedback was conducted. The survey revealed an impressive 100% satisfaction rate.

The event was a true celebration of learning and achievement, fostering a spirit of innovation among participants.

احتفالاً بالابتكار: أبرز الأحداث من اليوم العلمي الثامن عشر

تم تنظيم اليوم العلمي الثامن عشر بواسطة إدارة التدريب يوم 30 سبتمبر 2024، في قاعة بالمبنى الرئيسي للجامعة. عرض الحدث العمل المتميز لاطباء الامتياز خلال برنامج تدريبهم، كما عزز التعاون والابتكار داخل المجتمع الأكاديمي.

شهد الحدث حضور شخصيات بارزة مثل العميد، ونائب العميد لشؤون المجتمع والبيئة، ورؤساء الأقسام، إلى جانب أعضاء هيئة التدريس من كلية طب الأسنان. حضر الفعالية المجموعة كاملة من 319 طبيب امتياز.

بدأ الحدث برسالة تحفيزية من عميد الكلية، تلتها كلمة تقدير من نائب العميد لشؤون المجتمع والبيئة، لشكر الجهود لرؤساء الأقسام، ومنسقي العلوم، ومنسقي خدمة المجتمع، وإدارة الجامعة.

لاحقًا، ألقى أحد متدربي جامعة مصر الدولية لعام 2020، محمد مولا، كلمة عبّر فيها عن سعادته بالعودة لمتابعة سنة الامتياز بعد أن تخلى عن دراسة طب الأسنان قبل 4 سنوات.

بعد ذلك، سلط المدير المشارك للتدريب الضوء على تفاني وجهود التعاون لكل من الطاقم والمتدربين عبر دفعات الخريف والشتاء والربيع والصيف. شمل تقدير الطاقم الإشادة بتفاني المعلمين طوال البرنامج، من خلال تقديم الإرشاد والدعم للمتدربين. ومن بين إنجازات المتدربين التي تم الاعتراف بها كانت مشاركة اثنين من متدربينا الموهوبين، فيرونيكا مدحت (سنة تدريب 2022) وهنا وائل (سنة تدريب 2023) في مسابقة الحالات متعددة التخصصات.

أخيرًا، تم تنظيم جلسات تركزت على السوق والبحث العلمي، كما قدمت جلسة طب أسنان الأطفال رؤى حول الممارسات الحالية، بينما قدمت جلسة الجراحة الحية فرصة نادرة للحضور لمشاهدة إجراحات حقيقية تم تصويرها.

في نهاية اليوم العلمي، قمنا بإجراء استطلاع لتقييم آراء الحضور، والذي كشف عن معدل رضا مذهل بلغ %100

كانت الفعالية احتفالاً حقيقيًا بالتعلم والإنجاز، مما عزز روح الابتكار بين المشاركين.

Principles of General Laboratory Safety / Biosafety

The Training Committee at the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine organized a workshop titled “Principles of General Laboratory Safety / Biosafety” on Tuesday May 21^st, 2024. The workshop began with a lecture held in the Internship Seminar Room by Dr. Hanan Al-Mohammadi.

The event was attended by twenty-two laboratory technicians, both men and women: student laboratory technicians, research technicians, and specialized laboratory technicians.

The workshop was divided into three parts:

1. Basic and initial training in laboratory safety.

2. Causes of diseases transmitted through blood.

3. Laboratory infections.

The attendees expressed their satisfaction in the workshop evaluation questionnaire, the satisfaction rate reached 100%.

ورشة عمل للسيدات والسادة فنيين المعامل بعنوان “Principles of General Laboratory Safety / Biosafety”

قامت لجنة التدريب بكلية طب الفم والأسنان بتنظيم ورشة عمل للسيدات والسادة فنيين المعامل بالكلية تلقيها د. حنان المحمدي بقاعة محاضرات إدارة تدريب أطباء الإمتياز في تمام التاسعة والنصف صباحاً.

حضر ورشة العمل 22 من فنييات وفنيين معامل الطلبة ، معامل الأبحاث والمعامل التخصصية، وتضمنت ورشة العمل ثلاثة محاور وهي:
1. التدريب الأساسي والأولي على سلامة المختبرات.
2. مسببات أمراض منقولة عن طريق الدم.
3. العدوى المكتسبة في المختبر.

وقد أبدى الحضور رضاهم من خلال إستيفاء إستبيان تقييم ورشة العمل وبلغت نسبة الرضا 100%.

“The Impact of Research on Your Academic Career Development “ lecture

The lecture was given on campus by Professor Tarek Salah, the Vice Dean of Postgraduate Studies and Research.

“Ethical Review of Research Involving Human Subjects, Ethical Requirements of Health Research” Workshop

On Wednesday, the 8th of November 2023, a workshop was organized by the Training Unit at the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine for the purpose of raising awareness about the ethics of scientific research in the medical field.

Prof. Dr. Nahed Mostafa, Professor of Forensic Medicine & Clinical Toxicology – Suez Canal University, Egypt, Certified Trainer of Research Ethics – University of Maryland, USA presented the workshop titled: “Ethical Review of Research Involving Human Subjects & Ethical Requirements of Health Research”. The workshop was attended by 13 staff members from the Ethical Committee, Research Committee, Research Support Unit at the Faculties of Oral and Dental Medicine and Pharmacy.

قامت إدارة التدريب بكلية طب الفم والأسنان بتنظيم ورشة عمل بعنوان:
“Ethical Review of Research Involving Human Subjects, Ethical Requirements of Health Research”

وقام بتقديم ورشة العمل أ.د/ ناهد مصطفى أستاذ دكتور الطب الشرعي وعلم السموم بجامعة قناة السويس ومدرب معتمد في أخلاقيات البحث العلمي بجامعة ماريلاند في الولايات المتحدة الامريكية يوم الأربعاء الموافق 8 نوفمبر 2023 بحضور 13 من أعضاء هيئة التدريس والهيئة المعاونة من أعضاء لجنة اخلاقيات البحث العلمي ولجنة الأبحاث ووحدة دعم البحوث في كليتي طب الفم والأسنان والصيدلة.

وكان الهدف من الزيارة هو توعية أعضاء هيئة التدريس والهيئة المعاونة بأخلاقيات البحث العلمي في الأبحاث الطبية.

Engaging Staff Development Lectures at MIU Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine

Assistant Professor Ahmed El Sergani was invited by the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine to deliver two lectures on staff development, on Wednesday the 20th of September 2023.

The titles of the lectures were “Testing: The Chicken or Egg in Education” and “The Illusions of Knowledge”.

El Sergani graduated with high honors from MIU Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine in 2012. He is certified by the Arab Board of Health Specializations in oral & maxillofacial surgery, and he is awarded the Membership in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MOMS RCSEd). Additionally, El Sergani completed advanced clinical training and earned a PhD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine within the Department of Oral & Craniofacial Sciences.

The lectures were attended by 14 MIU staff members, who expressed an overall satisfaction rate of 89%.
