ندوة تعريفية عن تطبيق موبايل IDSC

نظمت كلية الألسن و الإعلام ندوة تعريفية عبر تطبيق زووم يوم 13 يناير 2022 تحدث بها أ. أحمد أبو بكر المدير التنفيذي لإدارة الإتاحة والنشر بمركز المعلومات ودعم اتخاذ القرار التابع لمجلس الوزراء عن تطبيق موبايل IDSC و الذى أطلقة المركز مؤخرا مستهدفا الباحثين و صانعى القرار و أصحاب الأعمال. و قد قام أ. أحمد أبو بكر بالتعريف بأنشطة مركز المعلومات ودعم اتخاذ القرار ثم عرض فيلما عن التطبيق بأقسامه المختلفة . و يعد التطبيق منصة مهمة من منصات التواصل مع الجمهور يتيح من خلالها مركز المعلومات ودعم اتخاذ القرار البيانات والمعلومات المحدثة من مصادرها المتنوعة و يقدم المادة البحثية والمعلوماتية في كافة القطاعات والتخصصات والمتابعة المستمرة للمؤشرات المحلية والدولية.

 

The Faculty of Al Alsun & Mass Communication Organizes Second International Conference

The Faculty of Al-Alsun (Languages) and Mass Communication is delighted to announce its 2nd international conference on ” Digital Humanities and Social Sciences: Perspectives on Language, Literature and Media” on May 14-15, 2022.  The conference will take place virtually through the videoconferencing platform Zoom.   The deadline for proposal submission is March 7, 2022.  For more details, please check the Conference web page at http://dhss.miuegypt.edu.eg

The Faculty of Al Alsun & Mass Communication Organizes Leadership Training

The Faculty of Al Alsun & Mass Communication organized a two-day leadership training program on December 1 and 15, 2021.  The training workshops, led by Ms. Maha Fawzy, training consultant, took place virtually through the videoconferencing platform Zoom.   During the two workshops, Faculty members explored the four main aspects of successful leadership by learning how to create purpose, deliver excellence, develop self and others, and lead change.

The Faculty of Al Alsun and Mass Communication Organizes its Third Graduate Student Conference on Comparative Media Studies

The Department of Mass Communication of the Faculty of Al Alsun and Mass Communication organized its Third  Graduate Student Conference on “Comparative Media Studies” on December 11, 2021.   This year, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic that we face as a global community, the conference was virtual.  The one-day conference provided an interdisciplinary platform for scholarly interaction and a sounding board for young scholars (particularly MA and doctoral students) to present their work and get feedback.  The conference also offered emerging scholars the opportunity to discuss and exchange research ideas and innovative theoretical insights with participants from different backgrounds.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Mona Magdy Abdel Maksoud,  Senior Manager, Knowledge and Research, Arab Region, Women in News, The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers, Berlin, explored interdisciplinarity in  media research.

A number of Mass Communication professors from different universities participated in the Conference and shared their knowledge and insights with the speakers.  Conference topics included globalization of communication activities and national identity, communication in the digital age, and communication and sustainable development.  The conference attracted a large number of participants from different public and private universities. 

Faculty of Al Alsun and Mass Communication Organizes “Dub in a Day” Workshop

The Faculty of Al Alsun and Mass Communication organized a “Dub in a Day” workshop for the Faculty alumni on December 18, 2021. The 4-hour workshop was conducted by field experts and MIU alumnae Hilda Herky and Radwa Alaa Sheir.  The workshop covered a number of areas including translation, localization, adaptation, and the technicalities of the dubbing production.  The workshop also highlighted the opportunities in the dubbing market which has witnessed significant growth in the past few years.

The Center for Training, Evaluation and Research Writing Organizes Teacher Training Workshops

The Center for Training, Evaluation and Research Writing organized teacher training workshops for lecturers from the Faculties of Al Alsun and Mass Communication and Business Administration and International Trade, from Nov. 29 – Dec. 2, 2021.

The training included a number of workshops covering classroom management, lesson planning, using technology in teaching, testing and evaluation, and quality assurance basics.

The workshops, conducted by Dr. Laila Galal, Dr. Maha Fathy, Dr. Sama Dawood, Dr. Ingy Emara and Dr. Hanan Sharaf, provided participants with practical information based on experience and up-to-date research.

Al Alsun Students Visit Mohamed Mahmoud Khalil Art Museum!

Al Alsun students went on a field trip to Mohamed Mahmoud Khalil museum in Dokki on December 7, 2021.

The trip was part of the ENG 404 “Literature and the Visual Arts” course, which explores how literature and the visual arts inform one another and challenge the reading/viewing experience.

The purpose of the visit was to engage students in the experience of viewing art and empower them to make meaningful connections to the course concepts. The group was accompanied by the course instructors, Dr. Laila Galal and Dr. Mona Helmy, and the teaching assistants Dina Rabeh, Nouran Hisham and Hams Hossam.

Faculty of Al Alsun and Mass Communication Conducts Workshops at Fatma Al-Zahraa Orphanage

In its continuous efforts to provide support to the community, the Faculty of Al Alsun and Mass Communication organized a number of workshops at Fatma Al-Zahraa Orphanage in Ain Shams.  Professor Hanan Kilani, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environment Development led, together with a number of Faculty members, professional workshops at the orphanage on two consecutive Thursdays, November 4 and 11, 2021.

Dr. Ingy Emara, Associate Professor of Linguistics and Dr. Maha Hamed, Assistant Professor of Linguistics in the Department of Al Alsun gave two workshops on the latest methods of English language teaching and assessment to English teachers at Al-Ghad Al-Moshreq, a  school affiliated with the orphanage.

In addition, the Mass Communication Department Teaching Assistant Nehal Walid led a hands-on workshop on the principles of photography. 

Profession Hanan Kilani conducted a workshop on bullying prevention focussing on the definition of bullying, its forms and causes, and ways of prevention and protection. 

The Faculty Community Service and Environmental Development Committee members handed posters designed by Mass Communication students to raise awareness of COVID-19, in addition to Arabic stories, animal and aviation encyclopaedias and wooden teaching aids, numbers and alphabet boards in Arabic and English. They also distributed questionnaires to the managers, supervisors and those in charge of serving orphans to solicit their opinion regarding the services that the Faculty can provide in order to cater for their needs in future visits.

Faculty of Al Alsun and Mass Communication Organizes a Seminar on Mental Health during and after the COVID-19 Pandemic

The Faculty of Al Alsun and Mass Communication organized a seminar on November 10, 2021 on mental health during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.  The seminar was led by Dr. Shireen Shawqi, mental health consultant and psychotherapist, who talked about the six universal emotions. She focussed on fear, one of the six emotions, which can harm people emotionally, physically, and psychologically. Dr. Shawqi described the different levels of fear and their effect during the COVID-19 pandemic, and pointed out a number of effective strategies to cope with fear and stress.

The Faculty of Al Alsun & Mass Communication Organizes Workshop on Research Integrity

The Faculty of Al Alsun & Mass Communication organized a workshop on “Practicing Research Integrity” on November 9, 2021.  The workshop, led by Dr. Laila Galal Rizk, Faculty Dean, addressed a number of issues, including research integrity and the core values of objectivity, honesty, openness, fairness, and accountability in planning, proposing, performing, and reporting research.   

The workshop also explored research misconduct and the best practices for ensuring research integrity and preventing misconduct.  The workshop was attended by the Faculty teaching assistants and graduate students.
