About the Department

Welcome to the Department of Al Alsun (Languages) at Misr International University.

The Department offers a variety of courses in different areas of the English language that aim at providing students with the broad knowledge and intellectual skills that constitute a sound foundation on which to build competence for positions of responsibility in the professional world. Designed to meet the needs of the community, the Program provides a practical focus that involves real-world discussion, research, and hands-on learning. The courses in language and linguistics, translation, and literature have a very practical orientation. This practical approach to learning develops skills of critical thinking and creative problem-solving, thus preparing students to make positive contributions to a challenging and ever-changing global society. In addition, Al Alsun Program involves an internship which helps the students apply their knowledge to the real world and gain experience.

The Department has state-of-the-art facilities including interpreting labs, computer labs, and digital and multimedia labs, in addition to specialist software to support subtitling and computer-assisted translation. The students also enjoy full-service library facilities including access to many electronic resources and databases.

Graduates of the Department have a wide range of employment and career opportunities available to them, including teaching, translation and interpretation, and careers in tourism, journalism, public relations, and communications media.
