1996 – 2017

Misr International University (MIU) was established in accordance with the presidential decree no. 246 of the year 1996 by the esteemed late educator, Hussein El Rashidy, building directly upon the educational foundation he laid with Orouba Schools starting in 1960.

Focused from day one on providing world-class education, MIU’s expansion was rapid and strategic. The university started its academic offering in 1996/1997 with the Faculties of Al-Alsun & Mass Communication and Business Administration.

This fast-track growth continued with the establishment of the Faculties of Engineering – Architecture and Pharmacy in 1997/1998. Then, MIU further cemented its diverse academic profile by introducing Computer Science (2000/2001), Oral & Dental Medicine (2001/2002), the Engineering – Electronics & Communications Department (2003/2004).
