MIU Student Support Office: Your Partner in Success

MIU strives to maintain quality educational standards and services. Therefore, students’ comments, suggestions and complaints are always welcome. MIU students can submit all complaints and petitions to the Student Support Office (SSO). The Office staff will promptly forward the case for investigation and response.

Our Core Services

The SSO offers a wide range of services designed to address the many aspects of students’ lives.

1. Academic Success

• Academic Petitions & Appeals: Receive support and information regarding procedures for grade appeals and other formal academic requests.

2. Personal & Emotional Wellbeing

• Crisis Support: The SSO provides immediate support and resources for students experiencing a personal crisis.

3. Accessibility & Inclusion

• Accessibility Accommodations: The SSO works with students with documented disabilities (physical, learning, sensory, mental health) to create individualized accommodation plans for exams, classes, and coursework.

4. Financial Guidance & Support

• Financial Aid is provided for students who have social or financial difficulties.

5. Complaints

The SSO receives and addresses student complaints related to both academic and non-academic matters. It ensures that all students are treated with fairness and respect, and that any behaviour or situation that may compromise the university’s values of equality, dignity, and inclusion is properly reviewed and handled. Through this process, the university maintains a supportive, respectful, and safe learning environment for everyone.

6. General Support

• One-on-One Case Management: The SSO provides individualized support for students with special cases and assists in developing a personalized action plan.
• Student Advocacy: The SSO helps students understand university policies and procedures and acts as a supportive resource in formal processes.
