Mr. Mohamed Mamdouh, President of the Egyptian Youth Council and a member of the National Council of Human Rights, highlighted that human rights refer to a set of principles concerned with equality, fairness and securing a life that is free from fear, discrimination or harassment, all of which have been on the priority list of the current Egyptian government. Mamdouh talked about the gains of the government during the past few years in various sectors, especially with regard to the rights of youth, women and people with disabilities. In addition, he emphasized how the economic reform program has helped in promoting development, providing job opportunities for the youth, and establishing partnerships between the government and the private sector with the aim of promoting sustainable development goals. He finally invited the students to be active members in society by participating in the government’s programs designed to spread awareness of human rights issues and promote transparency and accountability.
