Workshop on “NAM” (Naso Alveolar Molding)

In line with the cooperation agreement between the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine and Operation Smile – Egypt, two teaching assistants were invited by Operation Smile to attend a workshop on “NAM” (Naso alveolar Molding), held on June 3–4, 2025.

The workshop was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Farghaly, an orthodontist and a member of the Operation Smile team in Egypt. It was organized over two days:

• Day One featured a theoretical course introducing cleft lip and palate, as well as the role of dentists in the treatment plan for cleft patients. The session also covered the NAM device—its types, uses, and advantages in managing cleft cases.
• Day Two focused on hands-on training. Participating doctors were trained in taking oral impressions for cleft patients, fabricating and fitting the NAM device, and performing wire bending specific to the appliance.

ورشة عمل بعنوان “NAM” Naso alveolar molding

طبقاً لاتفاقية التعاون المشترك بين كلية طب الفم والاسنان مع مؤسسة عمليه الابتسامة – مصر قامت الأخيرة بدعوة اثنين من معاوني هيئة التدريس لحضور ورشة عمل “NAM” Naso alveolar molding خلال يومي 03 و04 يونيو 2025.

تم عقد ورشة العمل بإشراف د/احمد فرغلي (طبيب التقويم واحد اعضاء فريق عمليه الابتسامة – بمصر) وقد انقسمت الورشة إلى يومين، اليوم الأول دورة تعليمية تتناول كلاً من تعريف شقوق الشفة والحلق بالإضافة الي التعريف بدور اطباء الاسنان في خارطة علاج مرضي الشقوق، كما تم تعريف بجهاز ال NAM وانواعه ومزايا استخدامه لمرضي شقوق الشفة والحلق.

كما تناول اليوم الثاني لورشة العمل الجزء العملي للدورة التعليمية، حيث تم تدريب كل الاطباء المشاركين على كيفية اخذ مقاسات الفم لمرضي الشقوق بإضافة الي صناعه وتركيب جهاز ال NAM وايضا ال wire bending الخاص بالجهاز.
