Visit to SOS Orphanage House
Visit to SOS Orphanage House
25 Apr 2022On Tuesday April 12, 2022, the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine Community Service and Environmental Affairs Committee organized a trip for interns and Faculty members to visit SOS Orphanage house.
The purpose of the trip was to raise the awareness of caregivers, employees, and children at the orphanage regarding protection from COVID-19 and means of preventing transmission of the infection to others. The visit also aimed to raise dental health awareness to help improve oral health care of the children.
Interns presented a live demonstration on dental casts, simulating the proper technique for toothbrushing and means of correcting faulty ones. They were then allowed to play with the children and take photos until the end of the visit.
Faculty members offered children, employees, and caregivers free transportation from and to the orphanage, to visit MIU Dental Clinic Complex and receive the required dental care, free of charge.
Toothpastes and toothbrushes were given as gifts to the children. Alcohol bottles, masks and food supplies were donated to the orphanage.
Two questionnaires were distributed. The first was among employees and caregivers to determine their health care needs as well as measure their satisfaction with the visit. The second was given to interns and staff members to evaluate the visit.
