MIU’s 12th Continuing Education Seminar
8 Mar 2017Misr International University’s Faculty of Pharmacy held its 12th Continuing Education Seminar entitled “New Frontiers in Cancer Care: Evolving therapies, optimizing therapies during care, and survivorship measures” on Wednesday, March 1st, 2017. The workshop was conducted by renowned professors and around 120 hospital and clinical pharmacists from diverse health institutions in Egypt, as well as academic colleagues from governmental universities. The Continuing Education workshop was held as part of ACPE accredited series of Continuing Professional Pharmacy Development Program at MIU, Faculty of Pharmacy.
The workshop included four important sessions for the development of pharmacy practice in Egypt. The first session was held by Dr. Rowena Schwartz, Pharm.D, BCOP, Associate Professor of Pharmacy, James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy, University of Cincinnati, USA, who discussed Optimizing Endocrine Therapy in Cancer: Enhancing Efficacy and Minimizing Toxicities.
The second session was held by Dr. Emad Shash, MBBCh, MSc, MD, Assistant Professor and Deputy Medical Director at National Cancer Institute, Cairo University and he discussed the Immunotherapy Shaping the Future of Cancer Management Landscape: Opportunities & Challenges.
While the third session was conducted by Dr. Schwartz who tackled the Foundations for Patients and Caregivers in Cancer Care: Patient Counseling.
At last, Dr. Ebtesam Ahmed, Pharm.D, M.S. Clinical Associate Professor St. John’s University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, New York – USA, conducted the fourth session, in which she discussed the Palliative Care Needs of Cancer Survivors.
