MIU Faculty of Pharmacy Marks Pink October with Breast Cancer Awareness and Community Engagement Activities

As part of the global Pink October campaign, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Misr International University (MIU), in collaboration with DIMAS Club and the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Cairo University, organized a series of educational and awareness activities on Monday, October 19, 2026, aimed at promoting breast health, early detection, healthy lifestyles, and psychological well-being.

A key highlight of the campaign was a breast cancer awareness session delivered by a distinguished team of pharmacists from the National Cancer Institute, led by Dr. Ghada Emam, Deputy Director of NCI – First Settlement Branch, alongside Dr. Fatma Boktash, Dr. Kholod Reda, Dr. Jacklen Safwat.

The Faculty was also pleased to welcome back Dr. Lamis Hossam and Dr. Sarah Galal, both MIU Faculty of Pharmacy alumni, who returned to share their professional expertise with the students.

The session addressed breast cancer risk factors, warning signs, the importance of early detection and appropriate screening, and the role of healthy lifestyle practices in reducing breast cancer risk.

The speakers also highlighted the vital role of healthcare professionals, particularly pharmacists, in raising public awareness, providing reliable health information, and offering compassionate support to patients and survivors. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, allowing attendees to engage directly with the speakers.

Beyond the scientific session, MIU pharmacy students took an active role in spreading awareness through student-led educational activities, including awareness videos and interactive question-and-answer discussions. These activities explored common myths and facts about breast cancer, screening recommendations, preventive health practices, and lifestyle modifications, encouraging participants to reflect on their knowledge and address common misconceptions.

DIMAS Club students also contributed to organizing the event, designing and distributing educational flyers, and handing out pink ribbons as a symbol of breast cancer awareness and solidarity with patients and survivors.

The session attracted 105 students from different academic levels and programs, reflecting strong engagement and interest in breast cancer awareness and community health.

Through this initiative, MIU Faculty of Pharmacy reaffirmed its commitment to community service, preventive healthcare, and empowering future pharmacists to become active advocates for public health and patient-centered care.

كلية الصيدلة بجامعة مصر الدولية تنظم فعاليات توعوية بمناسبة أكتوبر الوردي لتعزيز الوعي بسرطان الثدي والكشف المبكر

في إطار المشاركة في الحملة العالمية للتوعية بسرطان الثدي «أكتوبر الوردي»، نظمت كلية الصيدلة بجامعة مصر الدولية، بالتعاون مع نادي DIMAS والمعهد القومي للأورام بجامعة القاهرة، مجموعة من الفعاليات التثقيفية والتوعوية يوم الاثنين الموافق 19 أكتوبر 2026، بهدف نشر الوعي بصحة الثدي وأهمية الكشف المبكر واتباع أنماط الحياة الصحية، إلى جانب التأكيد على أهمية الدعم النفسي للمريضات والمتعافيات.
وتضمنت الفعاليات ندوة علمية توعوية قدمها نخبة من صيادلة المعهد القومي للأورام، برئاسة الدكتورة غادة إمام، نائب مدير المعهد القومي للأورام – فرع التجمع الأول، وبمشاركة كل من الدكتورة فاطمة بقطاش، والدكتورة خلود رضا، والدكتورة جاكلين صفوت.
كما شهدت الندوة مشاركة مميزة لكل من الدكتورة لميس حسام والدكتورة سارة جلال، من خريجات كلية الصيدلة بجامعة مصر الدولية، واللتين عادتا إلى جامعتهما لمشاركة خبراتهما المهنية مع الطلاب.
وتناول المتحدثون عوامل الخطورة المرتبطة بسرطان الثدي والعلامات التحذيرية، وأهمية الكشف المبكر وإجراء الفحوصات المناسبة، ودور أنماط الحياة الصحية في تقليل احتمالات الإصابة بالمرض. كما سلطوا الضوء على الدور المهم لمقدمي الرعاية الصحية، وخاصة الصيادلة، في نشر المعلومات الطبية الموثوقة، وتعزيز الوعي المجتمعي، وتقديم الدعم النفسي والمعنوي للمريضات والمتعافيات. واختُتمت الندوة بمناقشة تفاعلية أتاحت للحضور فرصة طرح الأسئلة والاستفادة من خبرات المتحدثين.
ولم تقتصر الفعاليات على الندوة العلمية، بل شارك طلاب كلية الصيدلة بفاعلية في نشر الوعي من خلال إعداد مقاطع فيديو توعوية وتنظيم مناقشات تفاعلية تضمنت أسئلة حول المفاهيم الصحيحة والخاطئة المرتبطة بسرطان الثدي، وأهمية الفحوصات والكشف المبكر، والعادات الصحية والتغييرات في نمط الحياة التي قد تسهم في تقليل عوامل الخطورة.
كما أسهم طلاب نادي DIMAS في تنظيم الفعالية وإعداد وتوزيع نشرات تثقيفية، إلى جانب توزيع الشرائط الوردية، رمز التوعية بسرطان الثدي والتضامن مع المريضات والمتعافيات.
وشهدت الندوة حضور 105 طلاب وطالبات من مختلف المستويات الدراسية والبرامج الأكاديمية، وسط تفاعل واهتمام ملحوظ من الحضور.
وتعكس هذه المبادرة حرص كلية الصيدلة بجامعة مصر الدولية على تعزيز دورها في خدمة المجتمع ونشر الثقافة الصحية، وإعداد صيادلة قادرين على الإسهام الفعّال في التوعية والوقاية ودعم صحة الأفراد والمجتمع.
