The Mass Communication department has established a new student exchange program with Visiting Professor Shaun T. Schafer of Metropolitan State University (MSU) during his 6th visit to MIU. The student exchange program will offer transferable courses that allow Al-Alsun & Mass Communication students to spend a semester abroad at MSU’s Department of Journalism & Technical Communication (College of Professional Studies) in Colorado ,USA, without any delays in their graduation plans. During his two-week visit to MIU, Professor Schafer discussed the topic : “Egypt in Western Media” with highly engaged and interactive students of the Seminar of Current Affairs course (SER200). Furthermore, he conducted numerous lectures during a variety of courses on writing good editorials, preparing complete online news package, new trends in online news, and writing online press releases. Professor Schafer also held his first public lecture for the Mass Communication MA students on the latest research trends in the mass communication field in the United States. He discussed interesting PhD programs offered in the U.S. and all the different programs offered by the best universities with all their requirements. In addition, he discussed the means of reaching out to researchers in the U.S. for future research projects, highlighting researches of interdisciplinary nature.
