5 Mar 2020On Thursday 27th of February 2020, Faculty of Dentistry’s Community Service and Environmental Committee, in cooperation with the Vice Dean of Student Affairs organized a field trip to visit Modern Education School in fifth settlement district. A group of staff members, fourth year students as well as a team from MIU Dental Clinics Complex (nurses and administrative personnel) joined the trip.
The purpose of the visit was to raise awareness by giving a detailed presentation using visual aids to promote dental health and to improve the oral health conditions of the students. Visual aids included using a PowerPoint, role playing and dummies were used in the presentation. The session also covered the right tooth brushing technique. During the visit, dental interns examined all 9th grade students. The students received cards explaining their oral health state as well as the suggested treatment to be handed to their parents. They were all invited to visit MIU Dental Clinics Complex to receive the required dental care free of charge.
Two forms of questionnaires were distributed: one at the beginning of the session for the teachers, and administrative staff to determine their needs, and another one at the end of the session to evaluate the provided program and measure their satisfaction. A questionnaire was distributed to MIU participants as well. Educational materials and packs of tooth paste and tooth brushes were distributed to all students.
