2 Nov 2025The Faculty of Al-Alsun and Mass Communication’s Community Service and Environment Development Committee hosted a seminar on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, titled “Tourism Awareness: A Global Vision Starting from the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).”
The session aimed to deepen students’ understanding of Egypt’s cultural heritage and underscore the vital role of internal tourism in strengthening national belonging and global positioning. The faculty’s commitment to preserving cultural sites and promoting awareness directly supports UN Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, specifically by safeguarding the world’s cultural heritage.
The discussion was led by distinguished members of the Cultural Tourism Preservation Society (CTPS) and sector leaders: Mr. Ihab Abdel Aal, Secretary of the Tourism Chambers Union Fund, Dr. Soha Bahgat, Advisor to the Minister of Tourism for Training Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Montasser, Vice Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Egyptian Businessmen Association and Ms. Nourhan El-Bialy, Media Advisor to the CTPS and Director of Tourism Programs at the National Media Authority.
The speakers shared valuable insights into tourism’s role in preserving Egypt’s identity and promoting its international image. They emphasized the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) as a crucial landmark and a gateway to positioning Egypt as a leading global tourism destination. The event successfully encouraged students to become active stakeholders in sustainable cultural tourism.
