Egyptian Research Ethics Committees – Research Review Mechanism

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) at Misr International University organized a workshop entitled “Egyptian Scientific Research Ethics Committees – Research Review Mechanism” on Monday, May 8, 2023. The workshop was presented by Prof. Dr. Wafaa El-Sayed Abdel-Aal, Professor of Pathology and Director of the Clinical Research Unit at the National Research Center, member of the Scientific Research Ethics Council at the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and certified trainer for research ethics from School of Medicine, University of Maryland, USA. The workshop was attended by 19 staff members and teaching assistants from the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine and Faculty of Pharmacy.

The workshop included a review of the history of research ethics and guidelines, concepts of benefits and harms of clinical trials and forms of patient consents to participate in trials. New developments in the ethics of scientific research to keep pace with technological progress in the field of research were also reviewed. The last part of the workshop included a training session on reviewing some research projects in which all trainees participated.

The trainees’ satisfaction with the workshop was 90% and some of them suggested holding the workshop periodically.

لجان أخلاقيات البحث العلمي المصرية – آلية مراجعة الأبحاث

نظمت لجنة أخلاقيات البحث العلمي بالجامعة ورشة عمل بعنوان “لجان أخلاقيات البحث العلمي المصرية – آلية مراجعة الأبحاث” وذلك في يوم الاثنين الثامن من مايو 2023. قام بتقديم ورشة العمل الأستاذ الدكتور/ وفاء السيد عبد العال أستاذ الباثولوجي ومدير وحدة الأبحاث السريرية بالمركز القومي للبحوث، عضو مجلس أخلاقيات البحث العلمي بأكاديمية البحث العلمي والتكنولوجيا والمدرب المعتمد لأخلاقيات البحث العلمي من كلية الطب جامعة ميريلاند الأمريكية. حضر ورشة العمل عدد (19) من أعضاء هيئة التدريس والهيئة المعاونة بكليتي طب الفم والأسنان والصيدلة بالجامعة.

شملت ورشة العمل استعراضاً لتاريخ أخلاقيات البحث العلمي وقواعده الارشادية، مفاهيم فوائد وأضرار التجارب السريرية ونماذج إقرارات موافقة المرضى على الاشتراك في التجارب. كما تم استعراض التطورات الجديدة في أخلاقيات البحث العلمي لمواكبة التقدم التكنولوجي في مجال الأبحاث. أما الجزء الأخير من ورشة العمل فقد احتوى على تدريب عملي على مراجعة بعض الأبحاث اشترك فيه كل المتدربين.

بلغت نسبة رضا المتدربين عن ورشة العمل 90% واقترح بعض المتدربين عقد ورشة العمل بصورة دورية.
