Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine Celebrates the Outstanding Success of the first Scientific Day “Diabetic Care Awareness”

The Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine held its first scientific day titled “Diabetic Care Awareness”. The objective of the day was to spread awareness about Diabetes Mellitus, its risk factors, manifestations, complications, management and the ways of preventing its occurrence.  

The University Vice-President for Education and Student Affairs, the Dean of the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, the Vice Dean for Education Affairs, Department Heads as well as faculty members and students from all MIU faculties attended the event.

The event was attended by a number of distinguished guest professors including Prof. Abdelrahman Abdemotaleb, Prof. of Physiology, Alazher and Sinai Universities, Prof. Mohamed Okasha, Prof. of Physiology, Alazhar University, Prof. Azza Megahed, Prof. of Physiology, Zagazig University and Dr. Noha Osama, Lecturer of Physiology, Helwan University.  The guest professors participated in open discussions about various aspects of Diabetes.  

The day was filled with enlightening discussions, groundbreaking research presentations presented by our faculty and our highly trained second-year students.

During the scientific day, the impact of Diabetes Mellitus on oral diseases and the ways of controlling and managing these problems were shed light on. Two students presented a play that addressed how to diagnose diabetes.

The day also showcased the remarkable advancements in the field of physiology, shedding light on cutting-edge research and innovative discoveries that will undoubtedly shape the future of dentistry. During the day, the Physiology Department honored the top six students in General Physiology.

The Diabetic Care Awareness Day was sponsored by Mash Premiere for Pharmaceutical Industry, which played a vital role in making this event a success. The sponsoring company helped in the organization of the day, presented the honoring trophies and distributed the company products to all participants.

During the day, twenty-three attendees responded to the evaluation questionnaire. The overall rating of the instructors was 9.4/10 while the overall rating of the event was 9.3/10. Comments of the respondents described the event as an interesting and educational one. The respondents also mentioned that it is the first event of its kind in the Faculty of Dentistry and that it should be repeated with different themes.
