Dentistry Students Visit Al Mosheer Ismail School for Boys Al Nahda District
25 Oct 2018On Thursday 11th of October 2018, MIU Community Service and Environmental Committee, in cooperation with the Student and Educational Affairs Committee, organized a field trip to visit Al Mosheer Ismail School for boys – Al Nahda District, under the auspices of the Egyptian Red Crescent Society. A group of staff members, fourth year dental students as well as a team from MIU Dental Clinic Complex (nurses and administrative personnel) joined the trip.
The purpose of the visit was to promote dental health awareness and to improve the oral health conditions of the school students. During the visit, fourth year students examined the high school students (15-18 years old) to fulfill one of the requirements of the Oral Medicine and Diagnosis Curriculum. The school students received cards explaining their oral health state as well as the suggested treatment to be handed to their parents. They were all invited to visit MIU Dental Clinic Complex to receive the required dental care free of charge.
Two forms of questionnaires were distributed: one at the beginning of the session for the school students, teachers, and administrative staff to determine their dental health care needs, and another one at the end of the session to evaluate the provided program and measure their satisfaction. A questionnaire was distributed to MIU participants as well. Educational materials and packs of tooth paste and tooth brushes were distributed among all school students.
The school supervisors and teachers appreciated the organization of the trip, and they recommended more field trips under the umbrella of the Red Crescent.
