مبادرة غير حواليك بمدينة السلام

قام مجلس خدمة المجتمع وتنمية البيئة بالجامعة بالتنسيق مع حي مدينة السلام ثان بالقيام بمبادرة “غير حواليك” في مدينة السلام يوم الخميس الموافق 12 ديسمبر 2019. شارك في الحملة طلاب وأعضاء هيئة تدريس بالجامعة. حيث قاموا بتنظيف وتجميل شوارع منطقتين بالحي كما شارك السكان المقيمين بهذه المناطق.
ونظرا لوجود مواطنين من ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة قامت الجامعة بعمل منحدر أما المنزل لتسهيل حركة الدخول والخروج.

Egyptian Red Crescent

Misr International University is always keen to participate in community service events and projects. Thus, MIU has decided to participate with the Egyptian Red Crescent in the first National Conference under the slogan “Egyptian Youth Volunteering for a Better Future,” in collaboration with the UN Volunteers program, on 26th March 2016 at the ERC headquarters in Nasr City. The participants included representatives from the Ministries of: Social Solidarity, Youth and Sports, Health, Higher Education, and Education; presidents of Egyptian public and private universities; NGOs engaged in volunteering and humanitarian assistance; public service organizations; and concerned UN agencies.

MIU’s students and the Community Service and Environmental Affairs Committee as well as students had their role in the conference. The conference discussed volunteering activity management and challenges in Egypt with the aim of encouraging youth to get involved in volunteering activities and humanitarian action. The conference also tackled the challenges volunteers face as well as the laws and regulations organizing civil action in Egypt. Finally, the conference aimed at increasing youth social inclusion and active participation and providing updates on volunteering and humanitarian action.

 

Corporate Social Responsibility

Misr International University is always aware of its responsibility towards the society and pursues several social activities. In this context, MIU has decided to support the marriage of five orphan girls after carefully studying their case files. MIU covered all the expenses needed, as well as the wedding ceremony that was held at “Dar Al-Harb Al-Electroneya”, on the 28th of April 2016. MIU with the participation of one of its clubs, “ASCC for help”, called for donations from all MIU faculty members and students.

Moreover, a campaign to raise donations for “debtors’ redemption” was launched during Fall 2015 as a part of providing direct support to the underprivileged, including debtors. It is worth mentioning that this is the second campaign for this purpose. The previous campaign was conducted in collaboration with “Misr El-Kheir” Foundation. The donations were used to release twelve debtors from prison and to provide jobs opportunities at Misr El-Kheir factory. Participants were trained on making handmade carpets.

Orphan’s Day – Rich Experience

Misr International University believes that we are not living alone and that everyone should have his or her own role and responsibility towards society. Accordingly, MIU’s Community Service and Environmental Affairs Committee and the Intern Administration conducted a field trip to Al-Madina Al-Monawara orphanage on the 2nd of April, 2016 in 10th of Ramadan City.

The aim of the trip was to increase awareness of 45 male orphans on their oral hygiene.  An intra-oral examination was performed by the interns and infection control measures were applied during the examination and continuation treatment was offered to be performed at the MIU.

The First SciVal Champions Program Workshop

In cooperation with Egyptian Knowledge Bank, the University Community Service Committee organized a workshop on Sunday the 3th of April 2019 entitled “SciVal Champions Program Workshop”.
The workshop was introduced by Dr. Yehia Eissa, Customer Consultant, Research Intelligence ELSEVIER – Research Solutions Sales. This workshop is the first of a series of workshops allowing the champions to start familiarizing with Scival to extract data that would be of value to the institute when making evidence-based decisions. The workshop focused on research performance metrics, advanced training on SciVal, sharing global experience using analytics and assignments to produce reports on real cases relevant to MIU. All ten members chosen to participate in the program attended the workshop.
The instructor was rated excellent by 55.5% of the participants and very good by 44.5%.

Institutional Review Board (IRB) Research Protocol

The IRB Committee at the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine in collaboration with The Staff Development Committee organized a workshop to address the functions, roles and responsibilities of the IRB as an essential part of valid scientific research. The workshop was conducted on 17th July, 2017 by Dr. Isabelle Nakhla– Senior Research Scientist at The U.S. Naval Medical Research Unit No. 3 (NAMRU-3) and consultant of the committee. Staff members from all departments attended the workshop.

The aim was to highlight the purposes and functions of the IRB committee as well as to spread the knowledge regarding protecting the rights and safety of all research topics and maintain institutional compliance with regulations. All participants were satisfied with the workshop; 93.3% rated it as excellent and very good and only 6.7% rated it as good Most of the comments recommended providing handouts and conducting similar workshops regularly.

Dream Park

Misr International University always feels responsible for society, believing that the role it is playing is very important. Continuing MIU’s charity events and activities, MIU organized a trip to Dream Park for 60 students of Al-Amal School for the deaf and hard hearing. The trip was held on the 28th of March, 2016 with the participation of some of the MIU staff. The students spent a eventful day at Dream Park and ended up pleased and satisfied.

How to Write a Research Protocol for Dental Post-Grad Students

The IRB Committee at the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine organized a workshop for the faculty post-graduate students on how to write a research protocol according to the IRB guidelines.
The workshop was conducted on 17th July, 2017 by Dr. Isabelle Nakhla – Senior Research Scientist at The U.S. Naval Medical Research Unit No. 3 (NAMRU-3) and consultant of the committee. The purpose was to highlight the functions and responsibilities of IRB committee and to educate the students on how to write a well-designed research protocol in compliance with the IRB guidelines.
All participants were satisfied with the workshop; 66.7% rated it as excellent and very good and 33.3% rated it as good. The participants’ recommended providing handouts and written protocols as reference.

Incubators for infants

Misr International University always has the passion to play a role in serving society. Therefore, MIU has conducted research on some hospitals that need equipment and found that the Upper Egypt hospitals need incubators for infants. So, MIU has decided to provide Luxor, Qena, and Kom Ombo hospitals with 10 incubators. Moreover, MIU has called on everyone from its students and staff to donate to this project by the 3rd of April, 2016. MIU will always extend its hand to those in need of assistance, whether by monetary donations or by equipment needed to complete a project.

إعداد متطوعين في مجال الدعم النفسي الإجتماعي

قام الهلال الأحمر بعمل برنامج الدورة التدريبية لإعداد متطوعين في مجال الدعم النفسي الإجتماعي والتي عقدت في الفترة من 23-25 يونيو 2018 وشارك في هذا البرنامج عدد 21 طالب من طلاب جامعة مصر الدولية.
تضمن هذا البرنامج محاضرات عن تقديم المساعدة النفسية للمرضي بالإضافة إلى كيفية تعامل الأفراد في المواقف والضغوط النفسية وكذلك مهارات التعامل مع الأزمات.
وقد أعرب طلاب الجامعة عن رضائهم ومشاركتهم في هذه الدورة.
