Bridging Cultures: A Career Focus on Literary Translation

The Department of Al-Alsun (Applied Linguistics) was pleased to host Ms. Khamila ElGuindy on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, for a talk titled “Bridging Cultures: Horizons of Literary Translation in the Arab World”.

Ms. Khamila, the winner of the Best Translated Book Award from the National Center for Translation at the Cairo International Book Fair 2025, currently serves as the Head of the Translation Department and Foreign Rights Manager at AlRewaq Publishing.

The session was specifically designed to connect the academic training of our students with the demands of the professional job market. Ms. Khamila provided valuable, practical insights into career pathways in literary translation and publishing.

Students from the Department of Al-Alsun actively engaged with the discussion, gaining a clearer vision of how to leverage their skills to launch successful, impactful careers in the thriving fields of translation and publishing.

الألسن تستضيف خميلة الجندي في محاضرة عن آفاق الترجمة وسوق العمل

نظم قسم الألسن (اللغويات التطبيقية) يوم الثلاثاء الموافق 11 نوفمبر 2025 محاضرة بعنوان “جسر الثقافات: آفاق الترجمة الأدبية في العالم العربي” ألقتها السيدة خميلة الجندي الحائزة على جائزة أفضل كتاب مترجم من المركز القومي للترجمة في معرض القاهرة الدولي للكتاب 2025 والتي تشغل حاليًا منصب رئيس قسم الترجمة ومدير الحقوق الأجنبية في دار الرواق للنشر.
وقد صُممت المحاضرة خصيصًا لربط التدريب الأكاديمي للطلاب بمتطلبات سوق العمل الاحترافي حيث قدمت السيدة خميلة رؤى عملية وقيمة حول المسارات الوظيفية في مجال الترجمة الأدبية والنشر.
