Al Alsun Department Organizes Field Trip to the ‘Friends of Bright Tomorrow’ Special Needs School

On Tuesday the 6th of December 2022, the Department of Al-Alsun organized a field trip visit to the ‘Friends of Bright Tomorrow – Al Ghad Al Moshreq’ Special Needs School as part of the requirements of the ENG 427 (Topics in Linguistics) course. The visit serves the purpose of providing ENG 427 students with practical training to interact with and teach special needs learners. It also represents an attempt to reduce inequality within our community by promoting the social inclusion of persons with disabilities, in accordance with the UN 2030 agenda of sustainable development goals.

During the visit, Al-Alsun students were introduced to the various departments in the school and got acquainted with the teaching practices used with the special needs learners. They also had the opportunity to donate 50 different activities and games that they had previously designed for special needs learners as part of their course requirements. The students of Al-Alsun department showed great enthusiasm during the visit and had the opportunity to share the activities they designed with the special needs learners. At the end of the visit, the students expressed feelings of self-fulfillment and satisfaction as a result of helping the special needs community, and many of them showed interest in pursuing a future career in special needs education and occupational therapy.
