The Faculty of Al Alsun and Mass Communication Organizes Trip to Media Production City

The Faculty of Al-Alsun and Mass Communication organized an educational trip to the Media Production City in the Sixth of October.  The News Programs course, supervised by Dr. Nevine Aboul Awafi, organized the two-day visit on March 8 and 13, 2023.

During the trip, the third-year Mass Communication students had the opportunity to explore two major television networks, ON and DMC. The students toured the studios and observed the operations of different control rooms for both live and recorded programs. They also had the chance to listen to orientations from the heads of the two networks about how their control rooms work.

At ON, Mr. Amr Abou Khatwa, the network’s producer, provided students with an in-depth explanation of live coverage of events and field reporting techniques. Students were intrigued by the comprehensive explanation and had a chance to ask questions on the procedures and process of airing.

In the DMC network, Mr. Hany Lotfi, the network’s producer, arranged a demonstration of a live on-air news program, which the students watched from the control room of the studio. This gave the students hands-on experience, allowing them to witness the different steps that the studio crew takes in airing news programs. The students had the opportunity to ask questions, making the experience interactive and informative.

The students had an exciting and productive visit, giving them insights into the workings of a real-life media production environment.  In addition, they gained practical knowledge and experience that they will use in their future careers in the media industry.
