A Visit to Al Sondos Home for the Disabled Orphans
11 Aug 2021On Wednesday 4th of August 2021, the Faculty of Oral & Dental Medicine’s Community Service and Environmental Affairs Committee, thanks to the support of the University Council, organized a visit to Al Sondos Home for the Disabled Orphanage in Nasr City. The visit was joined by a group of staff members.
The purpose of the visit was to raise awareness about Covid-19 by giving a detailed presentation using visual aids to promote personal protection from the virus, dental health and to improve the oral health conditions of the residents. Visual aids included using a PowerPoint presentation and dummies. The session also covered the right tooth brushing technique. During the visit, all questions regarding the protection from the virus including options for vaccination were discussed. The residents were invited to visit MIU Dental Clinics Complex to receive dental care free of charge.
The orphanage administration was contacted and visited prior to the visit to help learn any further needs the home could need and all purchases needed for the home was done and given during the visit to the residents including electronics, medicine, baby milk and supplies. A questionnaire was distributed at the end of the session to evaluate the provided program and measure their satisfaction of the visit as well as further needs. Educational materials as well as toothpaste packs, tooth brushes, disinfectants and face masks were distributed to all the employers.
