Faculty of Dentistry Collaborates with Operation Smile Egypt to Support Children’s Oral Health

Under the patronage of the University President and the Dean of the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, the Community Service and Environmental Affairs Committee organized a dental and oral health awareness initiative in collaboration with Operation Smile Egypt. This initiative aligns with the faculty’s commitment to providing community services in the university’s surrounding areas and nearby residential communities, while offering specialized care to promote children’s oral and dental health.

The program took place over three days—Sunday, August 17; Tuesday, August 19; and Wednesday, August 20, 2025—at the University Clinic Complex.

This convoy was welcomed by the Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Affairs from the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, the Director of the Dental Clinic Complex, and the Head of the Pedodontics Department at MIU.

During the campaign, a total of 43 children, aged 3 to 14 years, were treated. The Pedodontics clinics provided dental care, with interns performing the necessary procedures under the direct supervision of faculty members from the Pedodontics Department. Additionally, the team conducted an oral and dental health awareness campaign, distributing 30 toothbrushes and toothpaste sets to the children.

This initiative offered a valuable educational and humanitarian experience, enhancing the clinical skills of the interns while delivering essential dental care to children in need. It exemplifies the faculty’s dedication to combining academic excellence with meaningful community service.

A survey conducted among the patients and participants showed a 100% satisfaction rate. The faculty is enthusiastic about further strengthening this successful collaboration and continuing to organize similar initiatives that positively affect the lives of patients and the broader community.

استقبال كلية طب الفم والأسنان لقافلة مؤسسة عملية الابتسامة – مصر بمجمع العيادات بالجامعة

تحت رعاية السيد الأستاذ الدكتور القائم بأعمال رئيس الجامعة والسيد الأستاذ الدكتور عميد كلية طب الفم والأسنان قامت إدارة خدمة المجتمع وتنمية البيئة بكلية طب الفم والأسنان بتنظيم قافلة علاجية وتوعوية بالتعاون مع مؤسسة عملية الابتسامة – مصر (Operation Smile Egypt) داخل مجمع العيادات بالكلية ،وذلك في إطار حرص كلية طب الفم والأسنان على تقديم خدمات مجتمعية في محيط الجامعة الجغرافي والمناطق السكنية المحيطة وتوفير الرعاية المتخصصة للحفاظ على صحة الفم والأسنان للأطفال، وقد تم استقبال القافلة بالكلية على مدار ثلاثة أيام وهي الأحد 17، الثلاثاء 19، والأربعاء 20 من شهر أغسطس 2025.

كان في استقبال القافلة السيد الأستاذ الدكتور وكيل الكلية لخدمة المجتمع وتنمية البيئة والسيد الأستاذ الدكتور مدير مجمع العيادات والسيد الأستاذ الدكتور رئيس قسم طب أسنان الأطفال وأعضاء هيئة التدريس بالقسم، وقد تم استقبال عدد 43 طفل (من الفئة العمرية من 3- 14 سنة) على مدار أيام الزيارة ممن يحتاجون إلى علاج الفم والأسنان، وقد تولى أطباء الامتياز بإشراف مباشر من أعضاء هيئة التدريس بقسم طب أسنان الأطفال إجراء التشخيص وكذلك خطوات العلاج المطلوبة وعمل حملة التوعية بصحة الفم والأسنان.

كما تم توزيع 30 فرشاة ومعجون أسنان ضمن حملة التوعية بصحة الفم والأسنان وكذلك.

وقد كانت هذه الزيارة فرصة تعليمية وإنسانية فريدة ساهمت في تنمية المهارات الإكلينيكية لأطباء الامتياز، وتقديم علاج الأسنان اللازم للأطفال المحتاجين، وهو ما يعكس التزام كلاً من الكلية والمؤسسة بالدمج بين التميز الأكاديمي والخدمة المجتمعية، وتتطلع الكلية إلى تعزيز هذا التعاون المثمر واستمرار تنظيم مثل هذه المبادرات التي تُحدث أثرًا حقيقيًا في حياة المرضى والمجتمع.

وقد تم إجراء استبيان لقياس مستوى الرضا العام للمرضى والمشاركين وأوضحت نتائج الاستبيان أن نسبة الرضا وصلت 100%.
