Becoming an SDG-Engaged University: Al Alsun and Mass Communication Organizes Interdisciplinary Research Forum

The Faculty of Al Alsun and Mass Communication organized its semi-annual Interdisciplinary Research Forum on December 9, 2020.
The purpose of the forum is to promote the discussion and exchange of views among faculty members and to encourage interdisciplinary research collaboration. This semester the forum discussed integrating and implementing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in University curricula and research.
Dr. Laila Galal Rizk, Dean of the faculty, provided background for the 17 SDGs as a set of priorities and aspirations to guide all countries in tackling the world’s most pressing challenges. She also discussed ways of integrating the SDGs in curricula through experiential learning and service-learning programs.
Dr. Nagwa El Gazzar, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, talked about integrating SDGs in research focusing on interdisciplinary research, partnerships with the industry and community engaged research.
The session was attended by Dr. Mahassen Farghaly, Vice President for Community Service and Environment Development, who talked about the importance of impact ranking and the university’s efforts in this respect.
